Hurley Wi to Hayward/Cable Wi

Good morning,

We’d like to try this trip, few questions from you pros out there? One, is this possible by trail? Distance by trail? Any problems you may see (minus lack of snow)? Thanks for the help.

I have done it a few times from Mercer which is south of Hurley. Its not a bad ride, but its a lot of RR grade once you get past Park Falls. A few of the guys wanted to try a new casino, so that's what we did. Did it once in the summer as well with the SXS. I don't remember the exact mileage, but pretty sure it was under 140 or so each way.

I've done it before. Took a variety of trails, roads, logging roads etc to do it. It would be a haul to do it all in one day without taking shortcuts. There is a newer trail that cuts from glidden up towards island lake that would help that wasn't there last time we did it. You would really be out of your way if you ended up in park falls and on the tuscobia. But I'd you are not trying to do it in one day then wouldn't matter much. I suggest getting maps of iron, ashland, and Sawyer county's asking with chequemagon national forest map and researching.

On the SXS..can you give a rough estimate on the route you took? Ive tried to go west out of Mercer to Springstead and dont see a good route...once in park falls its pretty easy...

Have done Cable to Hancock one day. Hurley was about halfway. Hurley to Cable one day is fine unless you have problems. Park falls is your halfway point if you take the more southern route. Northern route will have few towns and bars, much more remote and less traffic.

You can take FF out of town past midway bar which is now legal to elmwood, go left to creamery and take that to agenda. It will take you right into park falls, all legal now.
