Idiots on the trails

In drag racing, we show our decided ET on a digital board for the tower to put in the computer. Why couldn't an electrical digital sign/placard be adapted for riders to display the amount of riders behind him. Voila....no releasing the grips. Make it in blue for daylight and evening visibility. I'd buy one.

we have gotten the signs for the trails from 1 of the corps and I know lots of other clubs around the mid west have also but se very few out on the trail.
I can tell U I will not be spending 70 bucks on a led light that no one knows what it is for .or will I spend any time bolting it on I really dont care if u know how many guys are behind me if u ride in control it should not matter

I can take or leave the hand signals. Was riding in Grayling this morning and narrowly avoided a couple of accidents with oncoming traffic riding the left side, too fast, around a tight blind turn.

I have mixed emotions on the hand signal debate. I do like to see lead rider and last rider signal. I also highly agree on riders being in control of their sleds,before signaling. We tell our wifes keep both hands on handle bars, we'll do the signaling. I also tell my wife to stay as far to the right as possible.

I use hand sigs till Night time Then all you see is nothing so y bother -- as for The ((Young Rickety racers))) I Hear you big time Thats a pet peeve of mine Drive Like you drive your car STAY ON YOUR SIDE OF THE TRAIL not on mine .. And off trailing in Wausau Area Not a wise thing to do but they are doing it . And people wonder Y trails get closed around here A couple of bad apples spoil the bunch !! Nothing against off trailing in proper des areas that support it but a persons hay field corn field or other is off limits unless u own it .. Sorry about that !! Drive Safe Join A club -- And keep the rubber side down !!

The problem with signaling for the groomer has it's faults as well as I have witnessed first hand. Our group came upon a groomer and our sweep driver or last in line signaled no more sleds to the groomer not knowing their was another group of sleds a minute behind us. The groomer pulled back out on the trail and the lead driver in the next group hit him head on. There is no easy fix. Always expect something around that next corner!
Keeping all the idiots on 1 post I would lke to remind riders to pull over let faster riders pass in a safe fashion do not block the trail no good will come of it. Don't cause faster riders to storm past you chucks flying everywhere..... Just slow down or stop & wave them by. This year I turned a new leaf I won't pass until waved by but sometimes I wonder what it takes to finally get the message to let us by? Geeezzz!

I was once one who didn't know about the hand signals. I thought people were waving at me. I quickly found out and have been signaling ever since.
I want to apologize to the (2) groomers that I have passed over the years, I did not signal to you my group size. I will remember to do this when it happens again, thanks for pointing that out and thanks for keeping the trails smoooooth!
As far as people crossing over their line, the trails are (2) way and not a race track! Keep to your side of the trail, especially in turns!! Use your head, think and we'll all problably benefit.

To echo what Whitedust says, the problem with leaders not allowing faster riders by seems to be getting worse. I generally ride with just myself and a buddy so we usually ride faster than most groups. Like Whitedust I won't just pass someone till we get to a stop sign no matter how far. I don't tailgate and show them a ski or any of that and I don't mind waiting. But we have been behind many groups the last couple years that when we do get to a stop the leader looks back and clearly sees us and just continues on or leaves quick enough we can't go by. After the third or fourth time I am done with the idiot and they do get passed. We have even been waved by a really slow rider and when we get to the stop the leader is so intent on staying ahead of us he takes off thinking we are part of his group. Most of those groups are hard to pass safely too because they ride all over the trail. If you are a leader please let the faster group through and keep your group together.
no I will also wait but if some guy looks back clearly sees our group at the tail and leaves so we cant pass it is game on. not to the followers of the leader but the leader will get the 2.6 powder claw wake in full yeah I know I am a A hole and some times sport that patch with pride . if u are not wearing a badge u are not the trail police and all the games u want to play to enforce what u think the rules should be are a wast of time .

We ride off trail during the day and trail at night. Safest way IMO to avoid sleds in the corners. I don't hand signal in obvious situations we don't need to know there is six sleds behind you when I can see them all.

Hand signals don't really bother me, I just always expect another sled to be coming at me.
What does bother me thou, is the fact that I ride a 153 mountain sled, with a 38 inch front end, and it always seems I am riding on uncharted territory on the outside of a left corner, and the tightest line on the inside of a right hander. Its like the sleds follow that one grove dead center of all corners... my sled should be the one pushing me wide on corners, but somehow I manage to stay on my side of the trail... people need to slow down, and maybe invest in skis or something.
