could be wrong, i do believe they know (camera) and adjust withdrawl from account. does on mine when i head north. may want to check your account on line.

I heard we may add tollbooths at state line. North bound only. If you don't leave you don't have to pay to return. Charge those entering. Let other state residents pay for our roads. Maybe some of the money can be used to fund trail system. I like it. The Fibs and hoosiers are already set up for this. Buckeyes to. Goes right on their credit card. Painless. Opinions welcome.

Once you get out of Cook County gas price drops.
Did you travel the Chicago Skyway? That tollway is 5 or 6 bucks without a trailer.

Total sidebar: The glorious residents of my village have never seen a tax increase they didn't like...looks like the referendum for increasing the taxes for our school district just passed... I've heard comments: If you care about your children, you'll vote yes. You're selfish if you vote no (YUP - I'd like to be able to afford to live here until I don't HAVE to!) It's for the ARTS! (Yeah, well my non artistically inclined kids play sports and I have to pay for them to do that...how come you don't wanna pay for your kids to ACT??) I'm so bummed! Art teacher at my school makes $87,000 per year, Music teacher $89,000 - and they're truly pathetic programs!! Fine...can't change that...but do I have to pay the librarian's salary of over $100,000 at my kid's middle school?
I'm thinking I'm going to the folks I know who voted yes and hit THEM up for some money to pay my taxes... get my OWN referendum going!! grrrrrrrrrrr

We took a road trip last week to Ohio,and the tollways were a great way to empty my loose change jar.......The look on the tollbooth workers faces in Chicago was priceless when i dumped 80 pennies in thier hands,and then asked for a receipt.....LOL..........

I think this is like the $10 increase in the Michigan permits if you do not like it do not drive in Illinois. (Just Kidding)Illinois just sucks thats why no one registers there snowmobiles in Illinois because they get you every place they can. The only thing the tollway does is create more pensions that Illinois cannot afford.
How about the Skyway?

2 axles = $3.50
Heading home to Cincinnati from MN after the holidays. We usually head down I-39 to Bloomington/Normal and then across I-74 to Indy - all to avoid Chicago traffic. This one time we thought we would hit Chicago at a decent time for traffic so we took the chance for the shortcut. Thought I might save a little gas money.
We got to the Skyway and traffic was horribly backed up. Turns out they raised the toll Jan. 1 and all the signage was wrong so nobody was prepared with the correct amount. Toll worker told me it was $10.10 - SUV towing my clamshell trailer. You gotta be kidding me... Add the other tolls along the route and I would have been much better off to take the I-39 route and burn more gas.
Gotta love the toll road racket.

The toll system is a scam! 4 or 5 years ago I noticed on my I-pass monthly statement that I was being charged a crazy amount of money to go through some tolls when pulling my trailer the Dekalb one on 88 is like $5.80 and the one in Beloit last toll in Illinois is $4.80. I was on line when looking at my statement and saw the different classifications and toll amounts, so when you are pulling a single axle trailer you are in the same classification as a semi-tractor trailer. When I asked how can this be I was told thats a good question, I don't really know, you need to contact special services and they don't have a phone, you have to wright a letter to them. Never did write that letter thought it would not get me anywhere, they figure most people won't look at there monthly statements and see those charges.

A friend of mine lives in Cary,and runs 4 semis.Last year they double charged him even though he had proof of where the trucks were.He said it was his word against thiers (good luck),and had to eat the $16,000. overcharge !! He's not a fan for sure..........

I used to drive a lot and so because I did not want to pay the cash price I got one.
My husband barley uses the Tollways and on the off chance he does, he now uses my Ipass because.... The booths that are unmanned don't work for ****, they either do not register the money you throw in because they are broke or filled with garbage. So after throwing like 2 bucks in a $0/30 booth he just drove through. About a month later we get a letter with a fine for $150. He calls and explains that their equipment is crap and they tell him too bad pay or drive down to Downers Grove and fight it. Well I call the Ipass people and explain and I was told well we will just attach his car to your Ipass and wipe off your fine. Awesome!!!

I think if there is an unmanned booth you should get a receipt.

Once my kids are done with school I'm out of here. Going to get my waterfront property I wont mind paying taxes on that.
