(Gasp)....Cat!!! I honestly was thinking about taking a break from sledding...for a couple years...I really want a new sled...but can't afford it...the economy isn't great up here...especially for a heavy truck and log loader parts salesman... then....I called Chad at M and M...and bang...done deal....lol
Once again...he made me a deal I couldn't refuse...I am picking up a really nice low mile...F1000 lxr...really nice machine... it should be real good for my type of riding...I don't ride much off trail anymore...and throwing around a long track 4 stroke was getting tough on tight wooded trails...so I wanted a shorter track..and a plush ride...I think I will like this sled...I don't really need 1000 cc's...but its cool.....I loved my yami...it was a terrific sled.
I have nothing bad to say about it.. nearly 14,000 trouble free miles...I sure hope this cat will be as good.

Chad at M and M...and Kip are the only places that will be getting my snowmobile business in the future...best dealers I have ever dealt with!!

LoL....some would say I was already on the dark side...since 07...I have had a rev 600 ho..a 600 crossfire.. a phazer rtx...an attak... and an attak gt...I'm not really brand biased... though I do favor Yamaha and Cat...hopefully this cat is reliable... cause the guys I ride with will be brutal if they have to tow a cat...lol

Lets see how that Cat will be at 14000miles ?

That is my fear Ron.....that attak was/is the most trouble free snowmobile I have ever owned...but...I like to try new things...and frankly...the lxr is a nice fit...for a middle aged dude that doesn't ride off trail much anymore...I want a soft..plush ride...and warmth...the older I get..the colder I get... these little sleds with band aid windshields and stiff racing suspensions aren't for me anymore.

Hopefully it will give you a lot of good miles. I have an 07 F8 and it is great for just what you described. Not sure what to tell you about the 1000. Knew a few guys that had problems, but then others with no issues. Like anything else, maintain it and keep it in good shape, it should treat you fine.

one thing that is minor will be the sound of the cat twin compared to the smooth tone of the yammi.

Attack Man What did you do with your old Attack? I see back in March you had it for sale. I think it needed a track and some other minor work. I thought about buying it about 1200 to 1400 to get it in top condtion. I see you point about lighter sled.

Yeah...she didn't need much...to put back to top shape, and has a bunch of extras...problem is I don't have the time to do it....and for the money it was better for me to go newer...and buy a sled with low miles...great deal from chad...but I not saying what...lol

I also have a 07 f8 I use for trail running . great ride one of the most comfy sleds I have owned not hard on the back can trail run it all day with out getting worn out.
now it looks like Barny the dinosaur but she is comfy.
I would look in to the plowman mount for that thing the 1000 is a shaker and hard on mounts the extra plowman motor mount will keep that beast centered and less likely to tear out the other mounts.
search it on HCS.
and I went with the extra tall wind screen and the 8in shapers on my Barny sled.
and running a 1k stock is not any faster than a 800 ho or e tech 8 but pipe it and she will fly

Last year I totaled my 06 Yamaha Venture on super bowl Sunday it had 16000 miles on I am 65 yrs old I think the venture was to much to handle. I bought a 2010 vector GT from Kip best thing I could have done fuel injected very easy to handle.

Big mistake. You didn't just go to the dark side....you're in hades, and just don't know it yet.
But good luck!

looks like I am gonna be selling my 07 Rage 136 for my wife. She asked me the other day if it was a good sled for back country and I said no, not really. She finally took the initiative to express to me her desire to ride logging roads and the likeand I'm excited to see her looking foreward to riding more. I wanna get her a xfire in place of the Rage.

Lenny, I have 05 Rage it is a great trail sled but it gets stuck so easily I have tried everything to improve it nothing works. The Venture I had was great never stuck. The Rage also does not back up very good.

I pull all my buddies out when we ride back country, not a big deal. Diana also is not aggressive and often stays in tracks which greatly reduces stucks. She rode the Mtn Max a few times and did well. She understands momentum better than many.
