↑ That is up to you. If you choose to be pushed around, then you WILL be pushed around! There are ins companies out there that will welcome the chance to quote you on your home owners and will also be up front about any extra costs due to dogs, wood burners or what not. It is up to you to sift through the crap to find the gold. If you are willing to be pushed into something that you are not comfortable with, it is your fault. We live in a free society with the choice to pay whoever we want for whatever services we desire.
The point here is people can only try to tell you what to do. If you conform to their requests then you are just as much in the wrong as them. Stick to your guns and do not let them push you around.
In our family the dog is just that. Family! Would you let an ins company tell you to give your toddler up for adoption because they are a liability? Ya! That is a little extreme but maybe not if put into perspective?

Had to chirp in here, wish I would have saw this post awhile ago. I am an insurance agent of 13 years, I have heard of some companies that wont insure you due to increased liabilities like
Swimming pools, trampolines, dogs etc... But untill I saw this post I did not know if it was true to be honest, My company askes on the homeowners application if you have had any dog bite losses
But we dont ask what kind of dog you have or tell you you cant have a certain breed, I think once in thirteen years I had a guy answer yes to the dog bite question and we still insured him seeing he
No longer had the dog. So speaking for my company we have no problem insuring dog owners, dont even ask if you own one, but if you own a dog that has already caused a liability claim we have
A problem, dog bites have become one of the biggest liabilities in the last few years. As far as the woodburner, once again no problems as long as you have it hooked up correctly, wood burners are a huge
Risk and no 1 cause of fires. So again as long as its hooked up correctly your ok but you will lose the safe heat discount that is approx 17% on a final note about insurance insure your sleds on your home
Insurance, it is usually a little less to do so. Keep in mind some of us insurance guys arnt all the bad and some xompanies dont suck as your post says, you may find out some day were your best friend!
