Is a 3 year old too young for a Kitty Cat?

Trying to convince the wife that we need a Kitty Cat for the kiddos. I have a three and a one year old, when do you think they could handle one?

My son was on a POLARISIZD KittyCat at 3 1/2. He did fine as long as I kept gas in it!!! He would wear out the snow in our yard as fast as the back woods riders looking for fresh snow. Start them early, but start them right.

Got my 3 year old granddaughter a Poo 120 for Christmas, though gave it to her a few weeks before Christmas because it snowed.

She turned 3 at the end of October, and handles it just fine. She's been riding a battery powered 4 wheeler since last spring, so a full summer of handling that got her more than ready.

Her older brother has been on a Yam 300 since he was 6, so she'll be on that by the time her 2 month old younger brother is ready for the 120. lol

3 is perfect age for 1st sled. My daughter learned 120 at age 3 also got her a suzuki lt 80 for the rest of the year. She did good on both with lots of supervision. I started off riding on back while she drove until confident enough to let her go. My son started driving with me on at 2. Its a blast when they start riding.

Three years old was the average age our grandkids hopped on the KittyCat. Before that, they seemed a little intimidated by the noise, etc. But some were bigger daredevils then the others. Imo the KittyCat is a good learner because you can keep them confined to a packed course and mostly out of harm's way. When they try to make a break for it and ride out into the sunset (and they will) the snowbanks and deep snow keep them confined. :joyous:

Not to young. My nephew was riding a Kawasaki KFX 50cc quad and the Arctic Cat z120 that winter he was 3. Now he's gonna be 9 and we ride dirtbikes for 8 months out of the year and I take him snowmobiling if there's is ever snow in Mn.

Yes, go with a 120. Kitty Cats are a pain in the butt as you will be unstucking it more than the kiddo gets to ride it.

I think it all depends on the child. My son was riding a 90 cc atv on his own at age 4 - shifting and all. My daughter who is 7 still can't figure out you need to keep you hands on the bars and not be waving to the folks watching her run into the tree. UGH - she will be tough to teach how to drive a vehicle.

I agree it depends on the kid. My son (4 years old) is on a kitty cat and does a descent job, absolutely not a great job. I installed a tether and tied a rope to the tether and then I can walk/run with him (pull the rope if need to). Yes my wife and neighbors have got good laughs out of this. Just make it fun for them, both my boys love snowmobiling and watching snowmobile races.

heres what I did...I got em both an electric Barbie/jeep/atv thingy that was the better one that went 5mph for xmas....then when they was as little as your are....I let them run those in the park for one summer....then after they did that and got the stucks and crashes out of systems....I got a kitty cat a 370Z and a 340 excel....the z and the 340 both had electric start so I didn't have to run out there every 7 1/2 seconds to restart them after they traded or stopped for some reason.....they learnt to get each other going to....they both learnt sliding sideways and braking and acceleration...and now they both drive most excellently in all weather and I have way less gray hairs because of it....I vote yes and on the 370Z I put 10 studs down the middle too....I didn't have to help them get unstuck from those....provides hours of fun and entertainment for you and them.....just be prepared to buy stock in marathon gas stations.....LOL
