Just chiming in here. I belong to a number of other sled forums. I am amazed at how many people have all the answers and blurt out recommendations when you throw out a question. I hate know it alls and I give everyone credit on this site for not being one. It appears everyone on my other site are in one way shape or form is a racer and or a profesional mechanic.

They must be single on those other boards.

Once married, you are reminded every day that you don't know much at all and she is usually right about that!

I also think age has something to do with it as well. When I was 20, I knew everything. When I turned 30 I started to question my all encompassing knowledge. By the time I turned 40 I started to realize how dumb I really was, and now that I'm only months away from turning 50 I am truly frightened by the fact that I'm pretty sure I don't know anything.

Know -it- alls

In the trades the saying was "hire an apprentice while they know it all" Luckily there are a few good ones willing to listen and learn.

Agree! You could be management material. I'm 54, feel the same way you do and I am an Engineering Manager at a large plant. Thank god I have mostly young guys in my department.

SkidooSki,

"YOU COULD BE MANAGEMENT MATERIAL" is an awfully big assumption. You sure you're 54?

I think that here on JD, it's more about actually helping people, not pretending. It's all about that warm & fuzzy family feeling. :D

If I could give any young kid and kids coming out of college advice, it would be to shut your mouth, listen and open your eyes when they are being taught something.

Good advice, to which I would only add:
"Don't hesitate to ask questions; there's no such thing as a dumb question, just dumb answers!"
