My riding partner just got a 2015 Polaris Assault 800 this fall. He says since he got it people have been telling him it has a governor on it to keep it from going as fast as it could. I think not, has anyone heard anything like this, if so can it be disabled.

There is no governor but the ECM is programmed for 18 hours of break in on the 800's. The sled will gradually go to higher rpm's etc. as the break in period progresses.

Nope, this is not the HO mark, just the regular 800 cfi like in my sled. No break in mode. The way it runs now is the same way it'll run 2 years from now. The ethanol setting is done via the gauge on the pro ride chassis, not like the stupid plug on the IQ chassis.

My 12 Rmk Pro has the plug. It is yellow. Labeled and on the drive belt side. Not on the former chain case side. Unless it has been moved. The 15 may have changed it all up.

Sweeperguy, have your bud look at his owners manual. It explains. Yes guys can and do look at the pictures in those handy manuals and still retain their man card.

what was he driving before?
could just feel slow compared to his last sled. it is just 145ish hp rotating a good size track geared to turn that track.

Will do I actually downloaded his manual off of polaris site and found it is on the display console where it gets changed. It makes me mad I have to find this out for him, you'd think with a 12k sled you would read the owners manual. Kids AARG! I'm co-sign on his loan he better take care of it till its paid in case I have to repo it. Thanks.

600 HO cfi, but shorty 121, and worn out suspension, so he may be going as fast or faster but smoother ride, so it doesn't feel like he's gained much.

Did he put a 2" track on it? If so it needs to be regeared. How many miles are on it? My 15 RMK 800 LE had 112 PSI on one side and 121 PSI on the other @ 200 miles, another 200 later its sitting at 123 PSI on each side. The rings do take a bit to get broken in. Most all dealers premix the tank 40:1 plus the oil injection so these things are pig rich on oil for a bit, which would also make it feel sluggish.

You are correct! I saw 2015 800 and thought HO but that's only in the AXYS. Maybe next year it will be in the AXYS Pro at 399 pounds? ;)

I think its a 2 inch lug track 144, but oem he didn't change anything, or order it bought it off the floor. 500 miles now, but with the lousy conditions this year its not like he's had much for good areas to open it up. Hope the conditions are good for us up at the Soo for the I-500 in two weeks when we go there.

That sure beats rummaging around under the hood.
And Steve.......make sure you got full coverage on it.

Actually when he bought it he thought it was the new lightweight HO, then found out that it was just available on the AXYS platform.

There is a chance the dealer put the track on hoping for a better sell without regearing, these need at least 2 less teeth on the top gear and 1 up on the bottom gear to run the 2" track. 500 miles is definitely enough tho seat some rings.

I'll have him get it checked out. Wouldn't suprise me if the dealer did something halfway, we have had some issues with dealers over here with my 12 IQ. Wish I was closer to Pat's in Greenland. Best service experience there when I had performance issues on my sled when we were up that way in mid December.

my brother recently purchased a 2015 assault 800 144x2" from greg at trackside in eagle river, when we went to pick it up greg spent at least 20 minutes going over the sled including how to change the ethanol settings.
some salesman and dealers are far above others..Greg is top notch !!

So true. That's why Peacock ltd. Is my favorite. Nothing worse then zero help and listening to a dealer complain how he didn't make any money after you just handed them $12,000. Then forgets about you.

Greg knows his stuff very well and always willing to help. If you think his knowledge is plentiful you ought to see this boy ride!
