My wife hit a tree 6 yrs. ago up in Irons area and bent an arm(speed was a factor). Could not find one to buy, but found a good guy that said he could help/weld it. Corrected it that night in his garage by bending it back and welding a quarter inch angle iron on it(only size iron he had). He even painted it red to match the sled. Got her back on the trail the next day, contusion on her leg and all!! Never had a problem with that arm bending again. Even traded it in like that in Bergland. Just seen that same sled with the same angle iron trailing arm on the South Bend trail syatem this year. Needed more red paint on it though. Told the guy the story behind it. Have a purple one hanging in my garage as a welded spare(no .25 angle iron on this one). Thought it was worth keeping around...........

if it gets you on the trail, that's good. The only problem with welding them is making them stronger than they should be. You want the arm the bend to reduce other failure on strong impact. I was only going about 10 miles an hr but I just slowed to get my line and than hammered it fully pinned and was climbing. It took a serious impact and stopped me dead in my track . I have the new arm now and have the old arm off. I had a small rip in the round edge of the foot-board when I got the sled a few years ago. There was also some bent metal in same exact spot. As a result of this impact I tore the foot well pretty dang good. It's part of the tunnel so to repair it properly I would need a new tunnel but we know that's not gonna happen. Skylar did it right when he damaged his tunnel and replaced it. When I bought it I was concerned about that area but it never worsened till this smack. Now I need to drill out some rivets to expose the damaged area and tie in some additional supporting material to get the rigidity back. If I just re assembled as it is I could easily tear off the mount from rough trail riding

lol,,,,you little rat ;)

Well, Nick and his fellow riders went 552 Miles on their Valentine's Challenge Day to honor Nick's mother and all other loved ones who passed away before their time from cancer.

Check out Nick's Snowball Cancer Challenge 2011 at www.snowballcancer.org for all of the details.

Nick ended the day with 39,781 miles on his 2010 RS Vector GT odometer. So what time do you think he will hit 40,000 miles on the odometer tomorrow? Check back for details.

take that Indy,,, 40k on a 2010 Yammi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know of an 89 indy 400 with 42k
motor never touched
TAKE THAT 42K ON A POO!!! ;)

looks like I did a real number on this one. The mount on the tunnel is ripped almost 50%. Not sue if I can salvage this one. I may be doing a Skylar project.

Not looking like it. I have it back together but it seems weak. I don't think it would take a good hit, if it does I will start destroying other stuff. I'm in a pickle, I can get a different sled but I don't have enough cash to get something nice. I can get a fabcraft tunnel for $900. I think my sled is a good fit for me, especially with the track, skis, gears clutch. It actually performs well. I am not gonna get a loan for a sled so I have to figure this out. Any suggestions? I'm gonna see if I can bolt on a support plat to get by. If I can get through the season, maybe next season I can get a used rmk or a m, xfire.

No one mentioned JB Weld yet. There has to be a used parted out tunnel out there for sale. Lots of big used parts outfits in the 3 state area. A few hundred bucks, bag of rivets, and a air riveter. Kidding aside, I know there are some really good fabricators in the Houghton area. Maybe talk to Wild Man Wyley in Baraga. he works at a shop there. Or call Todd in parts at the new Ski Doo dealer, Kip, or the Yammi dealer in Hancock anyone of them could give you ideas of how to get thru the season, or a used tunnel. I can think of a half a dozen others in the area if needed. All love a challenge.

I was at Kips yesterday digging around the parted out and wrecked sleds. They do have a few tunnels from shorties that would work.

It figures, I have buddies coming up to ride fri-tues and now this!
