Here's the story. A fella comes into my store and and pays for gas. I thank him for that. He then says he has a new 850 Poo out front and that he's not happy with the ride. So I ask him what's wrong. He said the sag seems not to be correct. I asked him what he weighed. He immediately gave me a look like it was an offensive question. He tells me in full gear he's 210. In full gear I'd be awful surprised if he wasn't at least 235 but I could be wrong. I told him that he may need to upgrade his springs to a larger rate. He then said he could here a clunk or something of that sort when he hit his brake. He was studded so I asked him if he had the proper stud height. He said yes and that it's impossible for the studs to hit with the tunnel protectors in. I then asked how many miles he had. He said 450. I told him that he needs to adjust his chain as it will most certainly be loose. He turns away to leave with his back to me shakes his head and said thanks a lot, you were real helpful as about as sarcastic as it gets! Whoa! Rare, but I let my true anger get the best of me. I walked out from behind the gas counter and went outside. I told him, what do you want from me? You asked questions and I answered them respectfully and to the best of my knowledge. He tells me that he's owned my sleds than my age and that he wanted to speak with the owner. I nicely informed him that I am the owner. He then tells me he's going to go onto Google and leave a negative experience about my business. I just can't believe it. He then goes on to tell me that I only want to get his money and that I was angry he didn't purchase here. I don't even know this guy! It really ticks me off that you genuinely help someone and they're offended and leave negative feedback. This shouldn't be allowed and google should not be able to do this. I can't even respond without setting up a google account. People like this make me want to sell this damn place I'll tell ya. Yeah I'm living in the U.P. to become rich and take his money! Wth! I told the guy I didn't want people like him in my store and told him he's a total rectum. Sorry, couldn't help it, I was infuriated. I'm not politically correct when it comes to ignorance. I gave him a thumbs up and he flipped me off. When he hopped on his sled to take off I could see his rear shock was totally blown out. I could've easily helped him with warranty but it was apparent someone had pissed in his cheerios and he was unhappy because his suspension was ill performing, so he takes it out on me. A grown man acting this way, unbelievable. Now I have a negative feedback because of a total douche bag!! Why not just say, my suspension isn't right, can you test drive it or take a look at it. Easy, right? Nope, gotta be a total rectum! Sorry, but I gotta vent! I just don't think it's right that a total ******* and liar can go onto Google and leave negative feedback. What a joke!

Here is what I put right after his:
Funny Dean, I heard a completely different story about what a tool you were when there. Read through the rest of the reviews for this business and you will see what they really all about.
1000's have dealt with this business and they have a nearly impeccable reputation.
I thank my lucky stars every day that I am not in the business of dealing with pieces of junk like you.
He gave you free advice. You thought you knew better, so now you come on here and spout off.
I will put MY reputation behind Kip and the others at Pat's!

I wouldn't get too worked up over it Kip. You run your business the "right" way, and you have the reputation to prove it! You were totally in the right to tell that kind of jackass you don't want his business. These kind of people are everywhere and they are procreating! Nothing we can do about it.

If it gives you any piece of mind, whenever I look at customer reviews for anything, I never trust them completely. I look for an overwhelming pattern, either good or bad. I'm pretty sure your pattern would be heavily weighted to the good column.

Kip, As a business owner I agree with your reaction and I also agree with snoluver1, this is the problem with social media from a business standpoint when you get someone like you dealt with who ends up making a post without any justification or grounds for reasoning behind it and guess what....its out there for the whole world to see and what grounds do you have against it... none. We have been approached by many digital advertising outlets and also recommended by one of the manufacturers that I get on facebook…. NO THANKS! I dealt with a situation much like this when I first opened and it ended up being something that had nothing to do with the business, and I found it out when one of our customers saw it on yelp, this was before you could no longer have posts removed and after many angry phone calls finally had it removed. Now a days you have to put as many good posts on so the bad gets pushed down, again.....NO THANKS and when people don't get their way its an eye for an eye and doesn't matter at what cost. I blame a lot of this on "box store" policies, and just the way some of the people have become, I compare it to... entitlement isn't just a government program anymore and everyone is entitled. I don't know you personally, but being in your shoes I wouldn't have done anything differently and keep it up with what you are doing. Its just sad how negatively one ***hole can off set the good that has happened so far. You were right... He was wrong

Don't worry about it man. There are turds out in this world who think the world revolves around them. Luckily, it looks like you live in a part of the country where you probably see a lot less of them.

Not knowing you or of your business before this post I looked you up and would have absolutely no reason to not stop by and check your dealership out.

Good for you blow off some steam here on John Dees. But don't worry about any long term damage to your Google profile. Not going to happen. Overwhelming evidence to the contrary. As for Mister Hole let us hope that his ***** falls off and dries up and a bird picks it up and builds a nest with it. A really small nest.

A sad state of affairs to be sure, at least you own the place and can say something. Where I work we can't say anything or we get fired. As a rule, we can't refuse service unless the Guest personally attacks the employee (verbal or physical).

As a Doo guy buying a new sled annually from 2004-2018, I recently bought a new 18 Polaris Pro-S and the suspension is way different than a Doo and a bit of a let down.
I am 300 lbs and have generally rode new Doo's without rotating the torsion block (non clicker shocks) or making any adjustments. On Renegades I will move to block #2 and that is it. Good to go out of the box so to speak.

On the Pro-S with Walker remote reservoir shocks I am already on to click 5 on the upper rear shock and am still bottoming out once per 15ish miles. I have also adjusted the upper rear shock preload by 1.25 inches and had to order a spanner wrench to get to the skid preload, hope that clears it up.
Why doesn't Poo provide a $5 spanner wrench. it's not like the buyer is not gonna adjust the shock. The book says we can do it by hand, that is bologna especially with snow/ice after the first ride. Kinda spoiled my first trip earlier this week as I will now wait til this Saturday to get the spanner wrench in the mail.

I would say the dude's frustration is with Poo not you, you are the rep not Poo itself.

As many have said you as a businessman with above and beyond practices are the reason people patronize as there are many Poo Dealers.

Much respect, Bear

the sad part of life anymore is there are more morons out there than good people it seems to me anymore !
and all these modern morons are SO NEEDY they need to share there crap with the world, without ever giving BOTH sides of anything, and even worse is many of these morons stick together as if there all blood related and NONE of them are ever WRONG in there own minds!
its again to me sad so many folks today want to be FAMOUS for NOTHING,
'no special skills or ability's, but a bunch of know it all tuff guys behind keyboards and screens, thinking there SPECIAL and the world should; revolve around them!

OH there special ALL right, just NOT the way, they seem to want to be IMO!

and as always, I am OH so glad I grew up when I did to have the morals and respect of others I have! not to mention some common sense so many seem to be missing these days! LOL

Judging from all of the negative internet hype and drama surrounding the New Poo, the dude should be ecstatic that his 850 made it 450 miles....LOL

Kip, your true concern over this one misguided google comment shows what a top notch guy you are and how much you truly care about everyone who walks into your store.

Thank you guys for all the support and a big thanks to John for posting. When you care about people and your job it stings to say the least. When you want to make everyone happy it sure makes things tough. Thanks to all for letting me vent and for your overwhelming support, it makes the job way more gratifying:) Bear, I totally agree on the spanner wrench. I've said that from day one to Poo. Everyone needs to dial in their rides and these tools aren't going to break the bank! On a positive note very good snow and lots of good trail condition feedback today other than around Ontonagon. Things have been rough there but I know they've lost some operators and have had some breakdowns. Anyway, I'm off my soap box now and I greatly appreciate all of you, very humbling. Kip

Kip, You can't let that get you down, nobody can please that guy I am sure, not even himself.

I have seen how you go out of your way to help anyone that comes to your shop, your reputation won't be ruined by one undeserved review.

Keep up the good work, your loyal customers will support you and by word of mouth send you more business.

If you see him again, turn the pump off, maybe he can make it to Mass City, or not

Hey Kip,
We haven't formally met yet but I will go out of my way to seek you out on my next trip to meet up. You see it's been many years that I've watched your
business grow. It all started around 10 years ago when I had a problem with my 97 xmax 500. We were up at the best western (I think now it the American inn?)
in silver city, went up to lake in the clouds for the first run, couldn't get the vmax past 40 mph, went back to the motel, grabbed the yellow pages and started calling
around. We happened on your number, we talked to an older fella that just had such a warm and reassuring personality (Pat I guess?) he said bring it on down, we'll get you back
out the trail as soon as we can, so we loaded the vmax on the trailer and headed down to you. We got down there and were pretty much immediately taken care of with
the greatest of professionalism and knowledge, we were told to go have lunch across the street and when we got back you guys were pretty much done with the repair.
come to find out the exhaust muffler was completely clogged, I in a million years would of never figured that out! You sold us a used muffler at a reasonable price and
we were on our way. I think one of the coolest memories I had of that experience was watching your son doing laps around the building with his mini sled and I'm thinking
wow, dang I wish I had that available to me when I was his age!
The next memorable experience was a few years later the vmax was acting up again. we limped it to your shop and found out it needed a head gasket, you guys were about
to close and at that time we were staying at a house in lake goebic, a good distance from your shop. The same older gentleman from the last experience said to the person
riding the vmax, go ahead a use my truck (I think it was a chevy s10?) to get yourself to the house, and drive it back the next day, just replace the gas you used for the ride
and we'll be all good, now here is a perfect stranger that the truck was lent to, to help us out in a jam.
These examples in my opinion show the honesty, integrity, kindness that we all would wish to experience in any snowmobile trip that we could have.
Kip, just remember that you have made a difference in my snowmobile history and I'm sure that we would all agree not to let some bad apple ruin the all the positive things
that you have done for us all.
Thank You
Snomoman

Kip I could relate stories about your business similar to Snomomans, about exceptional
Service above and beyond from both you and your dad, but what I want to say is I owned
my own business (pharmacy) for over 40 years and I too tried to make each and every person
whom I dealt with happy, but every once in a while I would encounter an a##hole such as
you did and I would let that person ruin my whole day or maybe even days. A couple of times I too confronted the jerk but I found that never really made me feel better later I just had
to learn to brush it off and realize that the problem was not me but him or her, that no matter
how hard you try you will never achieve 100% success. Also realize that maybe the offending
person may be having a terrible life experience, we don't always know their story, no excuse
for treating someone else like a dog, but it happens. Take solace in knowing you run a top notch business and you are also top notch. Take care, John Bertelson

Probably a disgruntled Bears fan. Put him on your ‘do not sell to’ list and continue to take care of the folks that respect you and your professional advise.
