Saber, I believe the '03 was prefered over the other years because of quickness and top end, and if I'm not mistaken, '04 was when Cat went to the DD in the "F" which robbed top end. Anybody feel free to correct me, I don't offend easily.

I'm still not sold on the DD for performace. I'm not selling my '98 t just yet, because the Turbo Z1 doesn't come close.

The DD started in 2005 with the Firecats. The 2004's were tamed down a bit from the 2003's. If you can find a 2003 F7 that made it past the first year bugs you'll be one of the quickest sled to date.

Chad,

You ever drive an MR2, mid-engine poor mans Ferrari, like driving a slot car (you are old enough to remember those aren’t you) quickest car I ever owned, followed closely by the RX7.

Lots of great stories at KMS from the 03' Firecat, I wasn’t here then but always a topic during story telling time, in fact there are a lot of crazy stories from the old KMS. Anyway, you are correct on the 03, either ran like crazy or blew up, caught fire, exploded etc., etc., etc. but when they ran they really could move.

Marty, I grew up at a used car lot, not too many vehicles I haven't driven. Not saying there not fun but man I need something with horse power and bark! They tried telling me to get back into stock car racing in the 4cyl. class. I told the guy when I was 16 I was racing a 325hp V8 and now you want me to go around the track in a front wheel drive 120hp car!?! Sorry no can do.

And I remember hanging around the old KMS during the 2003 F7 era, interesting time indeed! Was glad I had the 440 but man those F7's ripped.

the 03 was also lighter if you cant find a 03 or o4 then you have to look for a f with reverse and if that cant be found saber time I dont think any of them had DD.but I dont think the saber came with rebuild shocks so adding spacers to the shock,s to suck them down is out and no rock hard rear shock setting.if john's out look is right I may be spending more time on the Ice than I want to

03 F7's are sweet sleds, still tearing up the drag strips and breaking records!

I also like the ZR900, even with the DD
