Funny, I was just thinking about this. We are actually having a real winter, so it seems appropriate we should have a good ol'fashion January thaw. I haven't heard the term January thaw in years! Probably because Dec, Jan, Feb and March thaws seem to to be common place anymore! Lol

I hope they close the trails up there, the base could be ruined.:) What do you think the trails are going to be like in three weeks? Best wishes, The Base Police. :)

We've had the same worthless 6" of snow on the ground since just before Christmas. The trails were open for a whopping 5 days. This is some kind of record for such a long stretch of cold enough temps to hold snow. Unfortunately, we haven't had any decent additional snow. Now it's up in the 30's for the wknd. The trails have been closed for a couple weeks now, waiting for more snow. After being below zero for a while, I welcome the 30's. If it aint gonna snow, it might as well be bearable temps to do something outside. I'll take THIS January thaw. Maybe some snow midweek around these parts.

We had a good base, over a foot in Elgin. Now all gone. The rain was horrible, 1" and melted everything (pretty much). So much for a winter around here where the snow stays all season. I guess I was getting my hopes up too much (finally a winter like '78-'79). About 40 today, might be 40 tomorrow. The base needs to start over. :(

The looooooong drive on 90. Heading WEST is much more fun than heading east.
