Juno Super Storm Super Hype

Seeing the news this evening you would think the end of the world is coming to the east coast.
Wonder if it really will live up to what they estimate. 23 inches I think I remember.

Some Governor has stated there will be a driving ban. Also a train ban. If you are caught driving it will be a $500.00 fine.
That's just mind blowing to me. I don't understand how they can do that.

Should be interesting...

When I was a kid we had storms like that all the time in northern NJ & the world did not come to an end. Back then no SUVs all cars were rear wheel drive. lol School would be off 2 days or so but snow would melt quickly nothing like the midwest temp wise. They would get out loaders or whatever & clear the roads & life went on.

It seems the past few years everytime there is a nor'easter the hype gets bigger and bigger. As if they are some sort of new phenomena or something? A 2 ft snowstorm is fairly common place in New England. They were descibing it as "crippling and historic" this morning. Then I saw the predicted totals tonight, I was thinking what the h**l?? What exactly is historic about a 2 ft snowstorm in New England? Lol!

I think it has a lot to do with the 60 to 70 mph winds that are expected to accompany the 2 feet of snow. That, and there are 60 million people in the path.

Thank the weather channel. I think those clowns are trained more in acting and less in weather forecasting. I wonder if there one idiot will be standing on the beach with the wind blowing 25 mph and he can barely stay standing upright. Happens every storm on the east coast, winter or summer.

East coast people must be real wimps too. Seriously, making runs on the grocery stores? ***, who the heck does not have enough food in the house for 3 days?!

lol I was thinking the same thing reading this thread. I always see that and say what a moron. More acting than anything. I agree people should be prepared but who needs to fill up the gas tank when you shouldn't drive....?....

Yah Skylar, who couldn't hit the fridge and pantry for a couple of days...... maybe the grocery store lobbyists support the reporters.

60-70 mph winds are certainly impressive and will surely cause damage, but again nothing new or historic. Happens with just about every nor'easter that blows through.

Yeppers I remember 12+ foot drifts as a kid & trying to make our way thru them losing our boots ...lol.. The old house would creak & the storm windows would rattle followed by my Dad cussing Sears for bad storm window installation. ...lol ...All would be well & then we would wait for the next noreaster that was sure to come .....March always produced a monster in late 1950s early 60s & I would be shoveling for days heavy wet stuff...I just a skinney kid that luved snow & down hill sleddin.:)

I work for a utility co. and know they are already calling for support. The New England area was asking for an additional 700 line crews and some 300 or more tree crews, I will know tomorrow if we are going. As for the high winds that is a problem but usually not as bad in the winter because there are no leaves on the trees to help break tree branches, but will definitely cause drifting and other problems.

he then says and i kid you not, "i can't feel my toes"
all the while he standing next to cooper who is not wearing a hat.
now maybe he was wearing flip flops they didn't show his feet.
I turned it off right then and there.

I was thinking the same thing, if you don't have enough food for three days at all times your doing something wrong. Of course maybe an extra beer run would be useful :)

Weather forecasting is a complete joke. Everything is so over predicted all the time. In my eyes the whole profession has lost credibility. Best forecast now is just look outside in the morning. Stop watching those fools on TV or reading it on the Internet.

Here is what I have been doing for the last few years. Take any prediction you read or hear and divide by 2 and then minus 1. Both the upper and lower end of the prediction. Works like a charm. Even the guys I work with remind me when they are prediction snow how accurate it is.

Funny stuff. Everyone here at work knows that is my forecast model as well for snow totals -> divide by 2, minus 1. Great minds think a like I guess.

I'll agree super hyped up of course for ratings. They thought it was going to be worse for NY but now have changed that. I use to live north of Boston and still have family there, they are worried the 60 to 70mph winds will take out the power for several days which means no heat unless you heat with wood.

The Weather Channel is a complete joke. DierecTV dropped them because of all their retarded reality shows. Enough whining went on so DirecTV took them back but now they are right back to their idiot programming. Very little real time weather to be had. Except when there gets to be a Superstorm. Overhyped crap. All they do is try to scare folks. Fear sells I guess. I just have a weather rock. When the rock is wet it is raining. When the rock swings from its string it is windy. When the rock has snow on it that means it is snowing. When you cant see the rock it is night. Beats Jim Cantore every time.

You know they get crabby without their daily latte. Would you like a white chocolate cherry almond cookie with that Sergio?
