Just curious...do you ride as much as you used to?

You don't say where in NE Pa but we drove from Columbus OH to Palmerton to get our first Tibetan Terrier(480 each way)....I find it hard to believe the Poconos don't get snow....you anywhere close to them? (Not calling you out, just curious)
not far from Pocono's and NOPE they ain't been getting any snow either, feel free to look it up!

the true snow belt in PA, is actually up in north central PA, (about 3 hours from me)and they as well been getting NO snow or very very little last few yrs, with trails almost NEVER open, or more than a 12 inch base if you HAVE to ride and beat sled up!
lake effect has been slim to none the past few yrs and when it doesn't come down, in about 2-3 days its GONE anymore
its crazy how every time it snows here, it goes from 20's to 50's in a day or so and RAIN with it

right now, 15 degree's have a 1/2 inch of ice on ground(crazy slick) , and snowing,
about 4 inches right now today , tomorrow calling for rain and 50's and rest of week in 50's!
so BYE BYE snow AGAIN!
in NOV we got one dump of 12 inches, and 2 days later it hit almost 60 and bye bye it went
and ONE day in JAN we got like 12 inches, trails opened, all powder, zero base, , turned to rain over night(temps in 40's) , then froze rock solid, all ICE, no snow left!
trails closed after 24 hrs open!

temps went into 50's
we got one more snow fall, 6-7 inches, trails opened back up for 36 hours, temps hit almost 60 and then rain, and that was IT this season for snow here!, minus todays small amount! which will be gone tomorrow!
I do NOT think the trails in the pocono's)(say Promise land and like area) even opened at all this yr
maybe 4 or 5 days last season, and NOT at all yr before!
I TOWED my sled in last 3 seasons close to about 7,000 plus miles to log on about 1100 + miles on sled!
guess I am lucky I like my truck HAHA!

I'm down some. My 2014 has a little over 8000 miles on it, and 3000 of that was the first year. This is the first decent year of open trails at home in the last 3, and that always helps rack up the miles.

About the same for many years but to me, more than half of the thrill is finding new areas to ride, and riding for so long, there aren't many new areas left. My group has diminished, and I'm not in the shape I used to be in. I still think the hobby is really cool, it's just not as exciting as it used to be.

For sure less. But that is mostly due to work travel and father related duties. I was never a super high mileage guy, but now I don't even crack 1000 miles a year. 2 kids in basketball eat up almost all weekends to boot.

Did 236 between Freedom, Wi, Bowler, Suring, Oconto Falls and a few side trails today during the storm; epic conditions.

I am on pace to do more than the past few years (maybe 3,000) as we have snow from home in Green Bay, WI.

I rode more when I lived in Iowa and made trips up here with our group. Now I live here, no one to ride with, Hubby sold his sled in 2014 to buy SXS, still have 2 up sled, that's no fun. I also went back to work 4 years ago. What's a woman to do.................

Since I'm gradually migrating to spending more and more time on the leafers, I don't think I ride as much....

But it feels like just as much :joyous:

I will say I have done more local riding this past week than the past few years combined. I shoot 5 stand at Triple J on Tuesday nights, and thought why not take the sled. The issue, when riding with a shotgun in a sling on your back, once you hit about 55-60 mph there is a lot of air drag. At 70 it starts to pull you off the sled. I am sure there were a few strange looks riding "shotgun" but I did get an extra 60 miles on.

Last night did a loop from Sherwood to Denmark and Back. Overall trails were a 7.5/10 which I will take. And a ride on Monday night to the west of me. Total for the week must be nearing 300 miles.

Super to hear.
I'm getting one last ride tonight before the wacky storm comes to Green Bay, sounds like snow then rain then snow; hope the trails hold up since it will get cold again on Monday.
