As I was flying to LAX last night I checked the airport weather around DEN and they were getting pounded (<1/4 mile visibility, 400 ft vertical visibility, and heavy snow). It was tough not to divert and find a sled to rent! :p

when its dumping on the front range its usually not snowing in the mountains, I went to CSU in fort collins and I learned fast not to get your hopes up when a foot of fresh fell in town.

That is usually the case, but this time around, there is enough energy and moisture to produce some respectable snows in the mountains of CO and NM in the next 2 days. Not feet of snow, but perhaps a solid 8-14" to the highest terrain. Actually, NM has been getting hammered the past week to ten days. I remember snowest doing a small write up on some spots in northern NM to ride. Would probably be the ticket for the resourceful and adventurous at this point.

The northern Rockies picked up around 6-12 in the higher terrain, but look to be very quiet for the next week to ten days.
