Don't have much info for you but rode Lolo the last 2 years. One of the locals we were riding with made several comments about how good the riding "used" to be up by flathead. He was pissing and moaning pretty hard about how much has been shut down up that way. I would say you definitely want to do some homework before pulling the trigger.

Oh, and watch out for fish cops with guns! The same guy was telling us a story of someone riding up there and accidently crossed over the line into Glacier National Park. Got stoped by a forest ranger and supposedly the guy was so pissed off he put a bullet through the guys block.

Snoluver1: Dave is pretty active when it comes to backcountry access and has tons of knowledge on North Western Montana. We rode Seeley Lake last year and that place was a hoot! My bucket list for sure heads north up the Seeley / Swan Valley and back down the Flathead.

Ezra: Sitting in Kallispel puts you so close to so many options. I have been investigating this are for a couple years now. North West Montana has become my favorite! Lots of varying terrain with out all the big elevation! When you heading out?

Cooksend, I wasn't referring to Dave. The guy I was talking to was kind of a bit excentric/strange. I'm not sure what he was telling us is even true. Just passing it on second hand.

Like I said, I don't know much about that area except if its anything like Lolo, it must be SWEET! Lol.

Ezra, one other thing I can tell you is the snow up there is different. It has a lot of traction to it. I was climbing stuff on my 141 I wouldn't even dream of climbing in Colorado. Dialed in clutching is crucial. Hard on belts.

We have been looking into my wife transferring to the Kalispell area for work. And one of the things we have been looking into is the riding terrain. I have noticed the elevations are lower than that of other snowmobile destinations. Any info about the area, please share.

Thanks

We took a snowmobile trip out there in 1967, I don't think I could help you much as things have changed.

Those were some serious mountain sleds back then.
