Does anyone live around Kalkasta?
Anything good to say about this area....just for living and recreational purposes? I hear cost of living is decent and Traverse is nearby and can offer a lot.

I know you asked about anyone who lived in the area and I don't. However, I my chiropractor grew up very close to there and he loves it. In fact he plans on retiring in that where his family still resides. He's there all the time visiting family.

I had a 1952 Chris Craft restored by a guy in Traverse city during the last two years so I made a couple trips and the area between Traverse city and Charlevouix is gorgeous. The guy who restored the boat grew up in this area and again he loves it.

That's all I can add to this but I hope in some way it helps.

Being primarily a western UP site with guys residing west of Lake Michigan, may not get a ton of traffic on this one… I can say I see nonstop posts about snow in Kalkaska & Traverse City on bookface. Probably some of the most snow in the Midwest you can get without being in the yoop and/or somewhere along Lake Superior.

Thanks. Looking for an area that's within striking distance of Land O', Drummond Island and Mio, MI that also offers decent medical care and fresh air!

I live in TC (west side). Kalkaska or east side of TC can offer you out the door riding be it sleds, dual-sport motorcycles or ATVs. Abundance of walking and bicycle paths. Kalkaska to Fife Lake is rural, for now, with some public lands buffering development.
