Btw...I'm not arguing about what happened...the uncle was a complete moron for taking the kid out there, the kid was too young and inexperienced...and the dumb part is...he knows the lake, and has been riding up here for many years...he knew that was (and always is) a bad area..its always open water by the hwy n bridge (way off the marked trail). I'm not going to argue law...but I can tell you plenty of parents take their kids to the lake to ride as 120s are not trail legal in Wisconsin...just telling you what I have seen. Havent heard of anybody getting tickets for letting their kids ride the lake

I've been taking my kids to a nearby lake that I'm familiar with for a while and haven't had a problem. Legal or not I just don't have local access to land for them to ride on or I would. I make sure they stay in a small area and I'm out there with them at all times. Just trying to keep them involved in the sport while making memories at the same time.

We were discussing whether or not it's legal, not whether people have done it without getting caught. If you read the regulations, it is clearly illegal, and there is nothing to debate.

Wardens are people too, and won't always issue a ticket, even if they catch you. If you have your kids riding around near the shore in front of your cottage, most wardens will never see it, or care if they did. But if an 8 year old kid is on a 120 in the middle of a big lake with large sleds buzzing around, that's a very different scenario, and they might not let it slide (and are also much more likely to see it).
