Lake Gogebic Area

Pop on the lake at Gogebic Lodge, it is very close to the bottom of the lake. You can easily get to Gogebic Lodge if heading North on 1. There is plenty of ice on the lake, rode pretty much the whole thing top to bottom Dec 27-30 without any issues. I always had a hard time finding 100 at the bottom but in any event, lake is good to go.

You can take 1 to 2 east for about a mile get your phone or gps and take Stage Coach road just depends on the road if plowed but brings you to the bottom of the lake

This is one way but you should know that the short cutoff trail from 2 (the grade) up and across highway 2 to Stagecoach is a tight squeeze with all the brush. We went through it last week but it scrapes the sides and you have to duck under the brush. Someone may have opened it up but last week it was barely open enough to pass through.

Riding 1 to the Lodge and then out to the lake wasn't a bad option on Monday. It wasn't too rough.

You can also run part way up 1 towards the Gogebic lodge and still get over on trail 100 towards the lake. It is not officially open but we used it last weekend to get to the county park and onto the ice heading north.

As much as it pains me to say we are going to be forced through Gogebic tomorrow and Friday to get north of Bergland to the good stuff . Anyone know how to get on the lake at the south from Presque Isle up trail 1? Seems like everything is closed ? Any help would be great . Our plan is to run lane all the way north from south. Can’t go via ironwood as 8 is still not passable as it was dec 15. Just sucks they can’t get 11n open so we wi riders can bypass the whole area

Snowbandit, It was my understanding as of this week that you can take 8N now to Bergland they just aren't grooming a section of the trail where the groomer went in last week. I read it somewhere on here or Facebook I believe. I will look and see if I can find it. I will be staying in Bessemer next week and that is our plan anyways to take 8N to get up to the deeper stuff just have to deal with that one poor section of trail unfortunately.

They have big pile of snow blocking trail 100 off of 13 again? Love trail 13 off o 2 running into 100. really fun stretch rewarded by a cold one at the lodge!

Sledhead, you run the lake till you get the bridge on the south end of the lake. Trail 100 goes over the bridge.

Was Stagecoach road plowed? Then when you get to the lake you take a left to the county park and on the lake correct?

Rode from Watersmeet to Bruce's to Bergland to LOC today. Great trip. Met a few groomers too. Silver City to LOC hasn't looked that good in years !

It was plowed but not to the pavement, still had hard packed snow or ice to run on. There was also a little loose snow, maybe 1"-2" on the side to help with cooling.

Yes the county park is left of stagecoach along east shore road, heading west. Or there may be a short cut to the lake, maybe 200 foot or so on private property. I have seen it there in years past but not sure if so this year. It was night when we went through and we came from the north to the grade. We used east shore road and stage coach to avoid the messed up 13.

Anyone have a good update on trails around Lake Gogebic? Haven't heard any recent snowfall reports from over the weekend. Looking to take trip up in the next couple weeks, from central Iowa so have a pretty long drive, trying to decide if its worth the drive. would we be better off trailering further north past Gogebic?

It was rough all around the lake this weekend. Way rough.

Just got back, saw lots of deer on the trails around the lake , watch out. Lots of sleds in the area, the groomers can't keep up in my opinion. Went towards watersmeet yesterday , less snow but much better trails. Headed up the gaunlet(13) towards Rockland it was brutal but it's always like that. Our crew loves Henry's . 11 to lake of the clouds was good as usual, 102 was beat for the three days we rode. Lots of cowboys in town

Sounds like a good time. Other than the crappy trails which is kinda the most important part.

The groomers can,t keep up??? I have heard that same thing for 5/6 years now in the Gogebic area. We were going to go there today, thinking some where else now. Been riding there for about 40 years.
