Yes, we know this year sucked...but look at the difference from last year to this year..these pictures were a year ago on this date, and today..ice almost all the way off Lake Nokomis (last year it took until early May)

What a difference a year makes.
This was near Bergland on the 18th of March.

The hill behind sleds is not a hill.
I can't tell you what it looks like this year. I know there is no "hill" from parking lot snow.

Wow! Looking at these photos, it really hits home just how bad this winter was. I think I've become accustomed to the lack of snow and then I look at comparison photos from last year and this year. I can only hope this comparison reverses itself next winter.

I have been using some off each end of the pile but considering I'm in the shop several days a week, it's nothing like last year when I almost ran out of wood.

Looks like snow, was more ice than anything.
I could have gotten similar pictures 2013 and 2014. I don't think 2024 will look quite the same.

Where are you going?

The plan is to start the plan towards retirement. Going to move to the cabin in Finland, MN but still keep working for at least another year. Not sure where the long term residence is so if we move a long ways away we’ll want to have lived at our cabin for at least 2 years so we don’t have to pay capital gains tax if we sell it.
The big dream is still moving somewhere in Montana or Idaho. We’ll see if we can pull that off. Lots of things play into that decision, kids, parents, family.

Idaho does seem like a great place to live.....where we live can have a huge impact on our wellbeing. More than we realize i think.

I also have some things tying me to where I live currently. At some point though i'll need to risk it and leave. Can always move back
