I know that the gang have also told me that back in 1996 they rode Mothers Day, which I believe was may 18th.

I remember 1996 well - The 1st Saturday in May we tried to go trout fishing around Grand Marais but could not get close to the streams due to all the snow. As I recall there was some trail riding going on. By the way, it was that trip I learned to not walk on crusty snow with neoprene waders - when you punch through the snow, the sharp edges of ice really make many small holes in the waders.

Late season ride

On April 15 in the mid 90,s we had a late season snow in West Central IL. About 10 of our club rode 80 miles! I never put my sled away until the corn is up.

I remember the same northern Illinios event that Bobsledder is referencing it was April of 1996. I remember it well I was working 3rd shift that night and dont ever remember seeing it snow so hard in my life. Thunder, Lighting and flakes the size of silver dollars for hours. We ended up with about 8 inches (dont know what it would have been if it wouldn't of melt so much as it fell) and rode the next day. Interesting note that riding season fall of 1995 also began very early for us in Northern Illinois as we had 4 inches of snow I believe the weekend or so before Halloween as there was some minor tree limb damage cause the heavy wet snow and leaves on the trees did not mix well. Go figure that was the year we began building our house in Oct and finished in May. The whole time was above normal precipe and strange weather occurrances. I think we still have pictures of them framing the house in the snow during the October event I referenced.

"My bad", wife reminded me (corrected me) that I'm one year off concerning April in the 90's. It would have been the season of 1996-1997. Should have rembered that as I treated myself to a new machine that year!!!!

August. It was raining and it was a Very large Evinrude with a cigarette lighter and bogie wheels in an alfalfa field on a hot humid rain filled day.
