You can do it yourself for $100 or less. Depending upon how wild you want to go.

Brush/Roll/Dab on application. Two coats is best. When you've finished, what you want to coat, just start over again. Should be dry enough to dab on a little more.
Do Not let dry before removing the masking! Take it off, when you're done, or it will become a permanent fixture of the truck.
Herculiner is fantastic for trailer tongues too. No more rock chips.

My fire department used the Rhino Lining on one of our brush trucks, it has held up well but keep in mind this is not a daily driver. The only issues I have seen with it, is its starting to fade, and this truck is inside 99% of the time. But there is not problem with rust anywhere on the bottom of the truck. We also have the bed lined and no problems there either. I have seen other brush truck that the beds will rust out b/c the tank/ pump skid units are trapping water in the bed area.
At my shop we use a product called sks. Its made by wurth . The older porshes and bmws has this sprayed on there rocker panels. Its a textured chip guard . when you spray it it is a purple color and dries a dark black. Go to your local body shop and get a estimate . I would guess 100 dollars per side would be close. Its a exellent product. Less expensive than bedliner.

Por-15 is not good to use along the entire rocker panel, ONLY for rust. I grinded down the rust, por-15 any rust spots, bondoing any bad rust spots (very few) sand sand sand, clean with some paint thinner/acetone, then used Herculiner bedliner on my rocker panels. It turned out great, 1 quart was plenty and it only cost $20. Here's my truck as of right now, just ordered moto-metal 951s in black, should be here tuesday.

Bedliner a good idea, just make sure you prep good first!
I don't think it is available in pink.

i have a charcoal gray duramax and i just got the rockers and cab corners replaced and the bottom of the truck was sprayed with paint matched "rhino liner" or bedliner. looks great and is super touch, I will probably be putting mud flaps on before winter

Here she is boys. Just put a new upper ball joint on the driver side tonight and the driver side cv axle. If GM would've just put bolts on the ball joints it would be an hour long job and not 3 hours... Already replaced the passenger side cv axle and the sway bar, end links, and bushings. Replaced door handles inside and out, door hardware (bushings and springs), and a new radiator. Still to do for mechanical stuff is passenger side upper ball joint and shifter carble. All the other stuff I've done to it is purely cosmetic/accessories. BTW hope I didn't hijack ur thread dcsnomo... Oh yeah, I'm installing 1.5" blocks on Thursday and a slight T-Bar crank. I still have <$4500 into this truck, and it blue books for $5000!

I had a friend who did that to his 02 chev 1500 and 3 years later there was no body left behind the line-x. Completely rotted from the back side. Now maybe he didn't prep it right but he had it professonally done at the line-x dealer..... That is my only experience with that type of application. Indy let me know after a couple of winters how it is holding up....

The excessive rust would not be from the line-x, that means it was just on its way out. 99-06 rockers were really thin and can rust out REALLY quick. The 88-98 also rust pretty bad, but they do it more over time...
Trust me . Go to your local body shop and ask about the sks product . Do you live around the Barrington Ill . area ? Stop at my shop and i will be glad to give ya an estimate. Back in the late 80s and early 90s bmws and porches had this product sprayed on the lower rockers . You can paint this product if you want . If your truck is black i wouldnt bother .

That's exactly what I had in mind... Herculiner is $20 a quart... you could always do it yourself mine turned out great...
