Low mileage sleds too good to be true

Had my ZL600 AC for sale on this site and had someone questioning the mileage. Gotta say it did not make me happy being accused of lying. There are those of us out there who have the sled in the garage that is for others who want to come for a ride. Or for the wife to ride on the 2 days a year she decides she wants to. That does not make us a criminal or a liar. I agree with those who say come look at the sled and see what shape it is in. Put it on my lift, ride it then make the accusation if you don't believe but don't label a low mileage sled as being sold by someone without ethics. There really are clean low mileage sleds out there but til you look keep your thoughts to yourself!

BTW it will go back on sale closer to winter and it will still be low mileage because it is to my knowledge!

There are used sleds out there with high milage that are in great shape that have been well cared for. Rolling back speedos is bush but sounds like it happens more that I thought! Buyer beware.

This is an interesting topic. It reminds me of the PR1 statement about greed ( the me,me,me attitude ect... ) SOME People will stop at nothing to dump their problems on another as long as they get theirs ( the money or the maximum amount for the sled )

( Many years ago )
I had a cycle/sled repair shop owner 1 time regarding my bad stator in an old T-Cat many years ago say " well you could run an air line from the hood grill and dump it into the recoil cover then take it to the auction ( Bronson ) and dump it ".... ???? Well I said , no that's not in the cards, lets just fix it and I ate the $614 stator cost.

Last year,
Had a good budd go to the same auction ( after I warned him about auctions ) and bid on an 2010 XP 800 " X " , he won it for 6500 which is a excellent price. Come to find out the e-mod was bent, someone swapped parts out & dumped it. He had it welded up so it would stop the spread of the crack in it . This is OK until you loosen the motor mounts up, then the clutch alignment goes to ****.

I for 1 put high miles on my sleds and any consumer would be hard pressed to find better maintained sleds than mine when they are sold used. As far as the roll the speedo back ??? What a shame.

I have a 07 600 IQ C.F.I. for sale with over 8000 miles . It looks like a LOW mile sled. I am PROUD of all my miles. Dont get hung up on low miles, sometimes LACK of use is harder on them.

There are a lot of good machines out there that have not been messed with
try to know the seller the machine will speak for itself. Example I live in WI I own a home
and Lodge in the U.P. I normally put on over 3000 miles a year. 2 years ago our son
signed a contract with Can-Am for Racing Utility 4X4 to make the story short
I purchase a new sled every 2 years from Marlin in Bergland 2010 800R X Summit 146 I have only put on 245 miles in the last 2 years!! and it looks like it NO TIME

With no rebuild? Just sayin.....

Pickin' on the kid again. Of course it has been rebuilt. Just sayin.........But again My neices and nephews got a 1997 440 Fuji fanner from me when it had 12,800 miles on it from my kids and now it has 23,800 miles on it with no rebuild. I suspect it has minimal compression, but what the heck it runs and the little one can pull the rope to start it. Suck, Bang, Blow is all you need.

I've heard a few stories about those Fuji twins getting big miles and lasting forever. Of course they are still 2 strokes, but they seemed to be bulletproof back then (at least the smaller ones).

the 488 fanner not so much but the 340, 440 fans and 488 liquids last and last. those old Yami 250's and 300's seem to go forever too.

Ahhhh..... Sweet 2s from yesteryear.:) DFI screwed up the simple 2 smoker & really is a shame. Old Fujis were indeed bullet proof wonder why they didn't continue to progress?

Not 1 rebuild... Just sayin ;) He did crank seals, gaskets, and rings a few times. Still has the original crank and pistons. He used to live in Quebec, a sled in that part of the world will always last longer. (You probably don't believe me, do you? Either that or you think I'm nuts to believe him!) He bought brand new clutches from Poo every 15k. Finally had to retire it when the mounting holes for the suspension in the tunnel ovaled out like crazy.
