Called for a 1000 gallon fillup then backed off to 250 gallons best price I could get was $1.69 per gallon & only had 70 gallons left. What are you seeing price per gallon?

Tall pines filled me up in July 1.39 a gal. Settlers just sent me a keep fill contract for this heating season,1.59 all season. This time of year,They start playing the games. If you have a 1000 gal tank, it should be filled around June. When you own your own tank it's a lot harder for them to play the game. These same company's corner the market up there with tanks. Have a bud bring one up from down south, they are being scrapped down hear.

$1.69 per gallon with leased 1000 gallon tank ROI not there to buy tank might pay back in 10 years but no short term ROI. Some will let you have tank free but you may pay more per gallon. Average is 10 cents less per gallon if your tank. PITA to call around when I need fill but pissed me off I'm now going play the game have multi purchases not buy 1000 a gallons at once.

Corn prices effect propane price. Farmers buy up a lot of propane this time of year. They need it to dry the corn to bring to the market quick. They can air dry it if its not worth buying the propane. This is why I fill in June ,and sometimes prebuy this time of year. Since a farmer led me on to this,I have beaten them at their game. Ok,maybe it wasn't a farmer who lead me on to this. It was a futures firm on Lasalle St. That's one of my customers.

When I would have my tank filled at my cabin in Iron River, I would call around for prices and see if my supplier would match (rented tank). Usually did, but I had a real good feeling they were not being up and up with the fill volume. I would have been better to specify an exact amount vs. tank fill.

I found June was always the best month to fill up, but easy to forget about when busy fishing!

wonderful, I just call the guy and pay. think it was $1.89 last time. Get about 600 gallons for an entire winter for up north. If I was doing mass quantities I would shop it more closely. never really paid attention to the fluctuation. Good thread to point that out.

The other thing I didn't mention , pay within 30 days. The best deal is around June/July ,and no terms. They usually advertise 500gal min, but they have always given me the 500gal price, with a much smaller purchase .

Margins are incredible on LP right now. Much like gas prices.........Kind of like stealing but you have to have it. I like the use of Farm Dryer gases argument. Only effects the price when demand may be high. when there is no demand for dryer gas they say it has ne effect on the price. Should own an LP business I guess.

I was told July/August is when the gas companies buy their futures contracts, making June the month to buy, unless the upfront futures take a dive from current price.

Called Polar Gas this summer and they quoted me 1.59 if you pay the driver, more if they billed you. Was told there was "no deals" as in buying in summer. Called this week and they showed up today, Hubby went outside to pay the driver, he handed him a bill for 1.89 . I called the Company, she told me prices went up and we had a month to pay. Then she must have thought about it and called back and said she would change it to 1.59 and hope she wouldn't get in trouble with the boss. What a scam. This is the first time we filled our 500 gallon tank since we built in spring of 07. It took 300 gallons to fill to 80%. We have an outdoor woodburner, cheap to burn wood but this year we bought about 12 cords for about 800.00. HHHMM, not sure what to think now. Can we use 300 gallons of LP (cost under 500.00) in one winter without burning wood? Getting out of the mood to cut wood every year, this is the first time we actually bought wood, we used to find it on our 10 acres or cut downfall for friends or on county land.

I think you would easily burn the 300 gallons up without burning wood, I know I would and have!
