Mercer Area Conditions

If they got 2-4" they will be okay until Saturday with the good job they do grooming. Seemed like Saturday was the killer for Mercer and areas nearby. Just couldn't hold up to the traffic with the minimal snow that they had. We found pretty decent trails north and west once your get away from Mercer, Hurley, etc.

Just got the the flowage. About 6" of fresh snow from yesterday and looked like most trails had been groomed. Out for a ride report back later.

Rode up to island lake , Hurley and back just over 100 mile afternoon ride. Trails were awesome. I can also say I have never seen so much traffic for a Wed ! Most stoos 20-40 sleds parked . Think it's going to be a crazy busy weekend here. Little snow Fri and about 40 for a high Saturday on the local weather.

This is what happens when the snow finally gets good in February.

Here is a small recap of the trails. Had great trails wed-fri and by Saturday they were getting rough with all the traffic. The GOOD, Iron co trail # 13,13b,15,8, and trail 17 (grade) from the Yukon to Hurley. FAIR trails, Iron Co trail # 77 and 2. FAIR to POOR Iron Co Trail # 7,9,9a,14 all just need some snow stating to get thin, Trail 12,182 no grooming this season yet and rough. I did not ride the grade south of Yukon but heard it was getting rough and thin. The Flowage was great all weekend, smooth and plenty of snow and no slush. I was down in Price CO and it was great as well. In all trails were great, you just have to know where to go and save the trails less traveled for the weekend. Its going to get warm next weekend and some of the roads are going to get bare as they are thin to start. If they could get a few inches of snow this week I think next weekend would be a pretty good. If they do not stay on trails in the woods and off the roads and I am sure you will find good riding.

Amazing how much damage 1 day of sun and 40 degree weather can do. By looking at the web cam from Mercer the grade is down to mud in town....... To think less then a day ago things were great up there. Feel bad for all the businesses up there as the hit will take a big Pres weekend hit. Hope Winter returns in a week
