MI Snowmobile Registration Decal

On my XP Gade I do NOT put reg stickers on it at all. As soon as I hit the POW they peel right off. Its not my fault Michigan can't make a sticker to stay put (my Klim ones have stayed on for 3 yrs), and I'm not gonna drill holes in my sled (mount a plate) because of that. Yes, I have been stopped, but I carry my registration with me and show them that. Never been an issue.

Not being argumentative, just playing devil's advocate......if your stickers were properly placed you may not have been stopped. Not a problem, I guess, if you don't mind being stopped, but some people don't want to be bothered with it.

But on the point of being able to make a sticker that will adhere to all surfaces, I agree....where they want you to put it, on most sleds now is textured plastic that does not have the best adhesion properties. I personally am not opposed to making a mounting plate, but I do understand that not everybody feels that way.

i carry it in a plastic bag with my reg. in my pocket, i got stopped last weekend, i told them i have a $10000 sled and 3 more that i ride in the up, and i would rather not put it on my new windshield, he told me as long as i have 1 in my possession, but he told me the next guy might not understand and give me a ticket. it is who you runs across, i have been lucky doing this for 3 years, but i am shure it will bite me in the *** 1 of these days.. good luck on whatever you do, i figure i got 1 i payed leave me alone,

X2......this is right on! It will all depend on the LEO. It ultimately is at their discretion I suppose, even though the law/ordinance states that the decals need to be on the sled and placed in the correct space. Unfortunately I don't think in my experience there are too many LEO's out there that wouldn't jump at writing THAT ticket. It's a hole in one revenue maker.

I have a new Yamaha Vector and have not put the MI registration on the hood yet. The paint job is too beautiful to put the decal on it and I would like to place it lower on the hood where the finish is kinda "stippled".
Will this surface hold the registration decal?
What else should I do to insure that it stays on?

smitty42, we have 6 Vector and Apex style sleds, 2004-2007. We use a small handheld torch to warm up the side panels, just below the reflectors...once its warm, they stick pretty well. The other option is to take the side panels off and keep them in the house a couple of days and then put the stickers on the same location. I'm not stating this will always work, we've got to put replacement stickers on one of the sleds next weekend.....we were doing all off trail riding at the end of last season - he lead a lot through the bushes - and lost one of the registration stickers; we haven't lost a trail permit in over 10 years; we try not to buy the computer printed stickers anymore, those have had a tendency to fly away.

I love the trail pass stickers...they blend in with my numerous race number stickers and all the monster energy stickers on my sled. course i dont need a trail pass just to ditch bang from the gas station to the bar right?
Haha. Unfortunately it is not that simple. MCL 3224.2 states that : "Where there are no fewer than three monster decals at least 4inches in height a neither a trail pass sticker nor a registration sticker shall not be required".

In The State of Michigan vs. D. Bag, the judge determined only the most responsible people of the highest moral character could obtain Monster stickers so the existence of the stickers adequately assures that the rider is in compliance with every conceivable regulation.

where my sled has rough plastic that stickers dont stick to i just use a template and paint the monster "M" on it. maybe you guys cna have the michigan sticker airbrushed on!? the best spot would be right on the headlight too maybe. then johnny law can see easily even at night!

BTW im totally kidding about the monster stickers...as u can see im not a sticker guy...i was kidding about the post and the guys whining about registration. i have my ugly blue wisconsin ones on the side of the upper hood and the michigan on the windshield just about headlight WHERE THEY BELONG..i agree id rather never put them on but its the RULES!

View attachment 29853 i rode in mi, and wi this last weekend they had a check point by mercer, my friends wife was riding my new adventure, no stickers, they ask where they were she told them i had bought it last week, it was brand new they said ok, thanks you and away she went, i turned around to show paper work they said all is good, again it is who you run into or if they are having a bad day. if you are not 3 shades in the wind, or have a loud pipe they tend to leave you alone.
