Mystery Polaris Parts

Found these in the pan of my 2013 Switchback Assault. I'm thinking they should still be attached to the engine. There are most likely more that I can't see. Any guesses what they are (be creative now) and no, it no longer runs but it sure is a nice looking sled. Guess I shouldn't have sold the RMK - Dang you Ben for taking me up on the deal!

just throw them back in there.... the shredder won't care.

Which motor and miles???....just rolled over 5000 miles on the '15 800 HO. What is my sled worth now...$5000???

Good start, good start.....

Was thinking that with some 30W oil and a couple of ball bearings I could get er' purring again.

To make matters worse, it had to be towed all the way home with my 52HP Voyageur. Really humiliating (although the Voyageur seems pretty snappy to me now).

Would you believe 403 miles? I'm dead serious. This machine did not see a lot of use (obviously) when I had the RMK.

Those are not Pol parts. They are from a 1972 John Deere culti - harrow. I threw them in your belly pan 2 years ago. Surprised it took you this long to find them.

Well in my defense, it is an 800 so a little extra shrapnel in the pan doesn't normally arouse suspicion.....until it goes bang.

I was told that Polaris Gold oil is basically a mix of gun powder and olive oil so I made my own. Maybe I got the proportions a little wrong.

Looks like part of the water pump housing on the lower case half.

You guys are sharp. Poking around under the hood in a little better light it's apparent that the water pump literally exploded which makes sense because I've never seen any mechanized vehicle dump anti-freeze so fast. It was pouring out of the pan.

Now the question is: what caused the pump to grenade? The odds guys in Vegas say the crank went. I'm thinking they may be right.

The cylinder tail broke and the crank forced it out of the case. When you take it apart that is what you will find.
....at 403 miles....I know the old Poo 800 was prone to piston skirt slap and failure but at 403 miles....I doubt, i'd be as composed as skiroulie.

It’s all a front. I’ve had suicidal tendencies since Friday. Yesterday I stuck my head down an ice fishing hole to try to drown myself but as luck would have it, just then I got a bite.

I'm assuming we're looking at a long block here (good test of the 4 year warranty). Nothing would surprise me. This engine has exhibited some strange behavior almost since the day I got it, excessive smoke being one of them. Had trouble getting it started last fall – had so much accumulated oil in the engine it was hard to pull over. When it did start, it blew oil everywhere. Took it in and Polaris wouldn’t authorize an oil pump replacement under warranty (said I should monitor my oil consumption first). The mechanic did say: “it’s lucky it didn’t bend the crank when it started with that much liquid oil in a combustion chamber”. Well…….it blew so who knows……

Sad thing is, I had just finished getting it all tricked out for a western trip later this week: 2” track, gripper skis, sway bar removed and raised bars. Had planned to put the 10-60’s in the clutch today. Now I guess I’ll just put them on a gold chain and wear them like a set of shark teeth.

The Switch in happier days - actually not a bad looking lawn ornament:

You could get a good sized box for petunias behind the seat. Plant something viney up front like peas that could crawl up the front suspension. You could rig up some PVC and make a little fountain by the dimmer control. And of course a nice pink flamingo right on the front of the hood. It would look nice.
