>It’s all a front. I’ve had suicidal tendencies since Friday. Yesterday I stuck my head down an ice fishing hole to try to drown myself but as luck would have it, just then I got a bite.<

This has to be the funniest post of the year. You are handling it very well considering your predicament. I hope it's covered under warranty and it sure looks like I made a good decision resisting the temptation to buy an 800 for the wife. 433 miles - you should walk in there and demand a brand new motor.

You could get a good sized box for petunias behind the seat. Plant something viney up front like peas that could crawl up the front suspension. You could rig up some PVC and make a little fountain by the dimmer control. And of course a nice pink flamingo right on the front of the hood. It would look nice.

See, I knew this site would get back on track...sledders helping sledders in time of needed support....taking a lemon and making a Margarita.

Well this sucks!!!

Hoping for good news for you this morning from your dealer and my comment still stands....If they offer up a Pro-X for the trip out west I'll let you run the RMK again and I'll run that! LOL

Does this mean I have to sell you the RMK back? I hate to say it's really running good.....But it is. Maybe it was more broke in. But at least you have warranty on the Switchback and now is the time for your dealer and Polaris to step up and take care of it as they should on a sled with only 403 miles!

Just tell your dealer you would like a $10,000 credit towards a Snowcheck tomorrow to help ease the pain. :)

But I have to wonder.........Could we fit the Ski-Doo +1 Linq seat on the RMK for the trip? LOL

This is all such good therapy.

I knew I could count on you to have my back. Also, thanks for sending me this photo of your ride last weekend. I mean, what are friends for? I feel so much better now.

We'll let you use your old 500XCSP to take west if you want. If you want to stretch it to a 144x2" that will be fine. We'd be willing to take it back like that!
Sorry to hear about your sled, that sucks. Loved the ice fishing reference though!

This is sad news Kelly! I know just how you feel, right before a trip! Got that t-shirt myself. Hope Poo makes it right for you! If not, I'd be willing to give ya a thousand bucks for it, sight unseen lol:p

Sorry to hear Kelly.......if it wasnt for bad luck we wouldn't have any. I had lost coolant in my 600 and had to put base gaskets in it.......twice.
I tried just fixing the side that was leaking. Then after i fixed it we lost all our snow. Now the snow is back, and i am too busy at work to get some miles in.......

I hope Polaris stands behind their product, I have heard lots of issues with the 800's

Yeah Kirk, it’s a little disappointing. I should have been breathing mountain air by now (or gasping for it). Instead I’ll be experiencing TERRAIN DOMINATION on the 76 Deere in northern MN this weekend.

I’m actually 1 for 2 on the 800’s. One has been flawless (the one I sold) and the other that seems like it has had bad juju from the get-go – same year, same motor.

There are some bright spots: The “generous” offers and input from the JD membership have been a real morale booster. Also, the repair is covered by the extended service contract, which actually goes through the next season

The dealer said they will push for a long block. I told them that if Polaris decides to go cheap and save parts, they may be looking at the same machine next year with a whole different set of problems. Should know the outcome in a week or so.

In the meantime, the Cyclone is loaded, the CCW is still pushing almost 160 PSI per cylinder, there’s fresh snow…we’re dancin’

Good to hear you're covered. Bet yur glad you got a bite....lol...nice Deere too.

On a positive note, Poo might have finally gotten the 800 to be reliable in the HO version. My op is the engine management along with the electric oil pump will keep them from blowing up. 5000 miles and counting. ..tic toc..
Lol

If you decide to sell it, I will give you $1200 cash,a 12 pack of PBR, and my Beenie Baby collection. I will sweeten the deal with a 1 1/4 Rip Saw Track with 10k on it. Adam sold me an up grade. If you do keep it,run Yammi 4 Stoke oil in it. You ever see the miles dem Fellers get out of those motors?

The PBR does sweeten the deal.

Haven't heard a lot about issues with the 800 HO and my impression is that it is a solid engine. It sounds like the electronic oil pump is an improvement - possibly more responsive to engine conditions?

It's funny, when I picked up the Deere a couple of years ago, I had no idea how much fun would be to ride. This thing is a blast! It's built like a tank but maybe that's good.

Quick Update

Believe me, the Deere isn't near as nice in real life, but it does run.

Talked to the dealer service guy today – The initial Polaris position is that the estimated repair cost (about $7000) exceeds the limit of their liability under the extended service contract and won’t cover the full cost.

Something not everyone might know, there are two specified limits in the Polaris contract: single claim limit and aggregate limit. The single claim limit is specified as follows: “In no event shall Our liability exceed the NADA current published value of the vehicle immediately prior to the mechanical breakdown.” Similarly, the coverage for aggregate repairs over time is limited to the value of the MSRP of the sled.

All well and good, but here’s the rub, current NADA value is $6747 (low retail), $8880 (average retail). Apparently Polaris is taking the position that the sled is only worth the low retail which doesn’t make for a warm and fuzzy feeling about how Polaris views the resale value of their sleds. Besides, we’re only talking about Polaris kicking in a couple of hundred dollars more for a sled with an original MSRP of over 12K.

In any case, I’m happy that most of the cost will be covered and it sounds like the dealer will push for full coverage but if he is not successful, it’s still way cheaper than it would have been without the contract.

Anyway, here are some photos for your entertainment. Be advised that these photos are graphic in nature.
