New 2011 Yamaha's

Just took a quick look at the Yamaha 2011 lineup. New versions of Apex, Apex SE and Apex XTX are interesting and impressive (power steering, improved engine, lots of other improvements) but wow! $14-15K for a sled. That's really getting up there.

Also surprised to not see the engine HP listed openly. They mention a bigger exhaust, improved injectors, longer intact tracts, and more mid-range and top-end power but no HP ratings anywhere (at least that I could see). The video says "150HP" and then says they added more....but no mention of how much more.....

Will be curious to read the first test on the SE which sports air springs all around. XTX looks interesting too.

No big breakthrough in weight reduction......I think everyone was expecting that. :-(

Looks like they might have something there. A little spendy though, I didn't spend much more than that for my truck two years old.

I think Yamaha is getting out of the weight discussion on sleds. Most of the people riding Yamaha these days are more concerned about luxury and reliability with there sleds. Not how easy it is to pick up. The price is up there but I'm happy with the direction they are taking. The weight battle gets old after a while.

You had better like the color blue! It would be nice if they would have at least some variety of color.

All manufacturers are going to scale back anything they do. Consumers just don't have the money to spend. Those that do will not care as much about the price as most of us do. I see it in my restaurant/bar. People are either bargin shopping or still buying the top end food. Nothing in the middle price market. Weird.

If yamaha would build (yes, it's possible) the sleds in the right price range they would own the market. What doesn't make since to me is they make these "snocross style" sleds like the nytro which is aimed at the 20-30 yr old person as the market but they price it such that people 45+ are the ones that can afford it.....the logic is backwards.

Maybe a 130hp phazer under 7K, now your talking.

It almost seems like the manufacturers are killing themselves by thinking they can just keep jacking the prices...good luck with that philosophy.

When I seen the price, I thought somebody slapped a H-D logo on it somewhere. :)

Hard to justify that kind of $$ for a sled, and for those of you who think the resale of your used Yami 4-stroke will hold or go up will find that not to be true.

Think Ski Doo will be selling more of their 4Tecs??

Amasing, a $14,000.00 sled and it's illegal to run on Wisconsin trails, it has a ski stance of 48.4". I average close to 4000 mi a year and love to snowmobile but at this rate I won't be able to afford the sport

Hey Chad...weight always matters...my back dictates lighter and lighter and they get heavier and heavier. No wonder power steering.

Show me a 120 hp sled that stay close to 350 lbs, and puts fun back in the riding. Get those beasts stuck and I don't care if they do have power steering...you need a winch to get them out.

Everyone is afraid to get out of the box....also with the dollar devalued, I was expecting the prices of the Yamahas to get a pretty good kick, and looks like they didn't disappoint in that department.

The sad thing is that for $14,000 for a new Yamaha can they get a new color other than blue you need a flashing light on your sled when you park it so you can find it. In the last 7 years all the Yamaha's look alike sad I hate the blue color on them boring.
At least the other 3 brands make other colors not one same boring blue.

When you buy a fine piece of machinery like a Lexus or Mercedes you are going to pay more!! Its telling most people that its not for everyone! a Status symbol!! Yamaha will produce less sleds, make a bigger profit and still be in business in these uncertain times!
