New 4s Or 2s Sleds Purchased This Year.

Seems like we are seeing more 4 stroke sled pictures being posted for 2009 non currents or 2010 new sleds. What brand, model, & engine did you buy if non current or new sled purchase?

Why?

It will be interesting to see what sleds JDers bought since we have trail riders & powder hounds on this site & all types of sled opinions.

Please keep comments in good taste & no bashing so mods have easy time with this & fun for all to see market trends.
Thanks,
Whitedust

I traded in my 07 SDI Blizzard Skidoo, for a 2010 renagade x etec. I stuck with skidoo because of the handling. And I went with the longer track because I found a lot of secret stashes between bergland and twin lakes last winter. This new 2010 has some big shoes to fill, I loved my blizzard

I bought a leftover:
2009 Nytro XT-X

1. I LOVE the 4 strokes.
2. They have a MUCH better (linear) throttle feel from idle to WOT.
3. No more injector oil
4. Longevity
5. Reliability
6. Don't have to worry about burning it up on long WOT pulls.
7. They accept forced induction better.
8. Sound. (NOTHING beats the turbo's or blown Yamaha 4 cylinders)

etc etc etc

I was torn between the 1200 Gade and the Nytro XT-X. It came down to the fact that there weren't any leftover Doo's near me and I am not as thrilled with the 1200 engine as much as the Yamaha 1050 or 1000's.

The Doo is VERY comfortable though.

Can't wait for snow!

I will stick with my 09 X-Fire 800 sp and my wife upgraded to my old 06 X-fire 700 sp from her 04 F-6. I will be adding powder pro skis and either the new Boss seat or the new Cat seat. Any recommendations?

mvedepo, might I suggest a bit of a boost for your XTX?!

I hear those make that 4 stroker extra fun!

Tech,
Its in the works. ;-)
If I can get the sled dialed in then I'm going to boost it (200 - 210hp), install a meth kit, and an excel exhaust.
I've been talking to a couple turbo companies and sounds like with that setup I'll have a managable amount of power for the trail but I can also pin it and do just under 140 as long as I want across the lake.
I think that sounds fun!

Yeah. I guess when you're running through the woods it is a benefit that the skis spend SOME time on the ground. ;-)

I upgraded to an 09' Nytro XTX as well. Bought it in April and am anxiously awaiting the Milwaukee snow show so I can get it accessorized. I won't be attempting to get 200 hp out of it any time soon but would sure like to see mvedepo fly across the lake.

Dean,

I see you are in Marshall. I'm in Sun Prairie. We'll have to hit the trails sometime!

What are you getting at the snow show?

Cool Mike. We should definately get out for a ride. Let's hope for another year like last year. I will be buying a taller windshield, the side deflectors and some saddle bags of some type. My brother and I have done a few bag trips over the years and I enjoy having room to pack. I'm also due for a new helmet, boots, gloves etc etc.... Guess I'll have to remember the checkbook.

I have heard a couple of complaints about the top end of the Nytro XTX. Can anybody tell what they had their NYTRO XTX up to? (TOP SPEED)

Nytros are geared for acceleration off the line. They are not lake racers. That being said the XT-X has a higher top end than the short track Nytro. The shorty has a top end around 100 MPH and the XT-X is around 105 MPH.
In fact of all the sleds that American Snowmobiler tested last year the XT-X was only beaten by 1 sled in the quarter mile. And that was the turbo Cat.
With a turbo or blower they will do whatever you want. ;-)

Mike, you are right on with the 105 mph top end. That is what I hit once the sled had over 1000 miles on it.

I don't know about the turbo though. Not that it don't work but if you do it first, I'll be there to see it. Then, who knows. But yes, lets ride. I am the brother of that electraglide "goldwing wannabe" from above.

So now we have XTXs in Watertown, Marshall, Sun Praire and Columbus. Any more good guys out there?

I doubt I'll get it blown this year. I don't want to miss good riding wrenching. It would be a summer job.

This year I will be changing the skis on it and possibly putting an Excel exhaust on it. I'm not sure which skis yet though. I like the curves but I had great luck with Simmons Gen 1. I'm torn.

Dean, I did just get a new helmet s well. I don't know if you are looking for a MX style or not. I bought the 509 Evolution and the 509 goggles. I should get them next week.

Can't wait for snow!!
