New Board Look

It doesn't seem slower to me. Come on people, what you have to wait a half second longer. Give it a few days to get use to it. Then if you don't like it, well I guess you're SOL! It's a FREE site that John has put out there for your enjoyment so enjoy it, Dammit!

Lighten up 700, Im sure John and Paul would be Interested in feedback, good or bad to tweak the system. I can tell you the other forum I know that uses this format sometimes has issues with certain web browsers making it run slower for some people.

I don't notice speed issues but MUCH harder on the eyes ...I'm an old guy may be ok for 20-20 people. No problem using new format. Thanks for a great site!

Works great on my phone and work computer. I like the new look, and I have always been impressed with the features that are offered on this free website.

Things just don't "stick out" at me anymore, I actually have to try and look for things.

Lots of white space as mentioned. I see maybe two repies on a page now.

Guess we'll get used to it like the last time.

With this change, I do have a problem-even though I am logged in it will not let me start a new thread-(that's why I'm posting this under misc. and I'm thinking this might be the most read thread today) The area where I would post is "greyed out." Not sure what happened with the change over-I've looked thru "settings" etc. and I am unable to figure out the problem. Any thoughts? I even tried re-registering and it didn't want me to do that either.

Sorry, I forgot to put in the smiley face!:D

I am old and I hate change. I liked the old one better but I am sure I will get used to it. It doesn't seem any faster or slower on my 'puters.

LOL @ saber1

I don't notice any difference in speed...it just looks different to me is all. Different colors.

My eyes have never been 20/20 and now that I'm getting to the age where I have to start correcting the OTHER way instead of not being able to see far away - OK, can't see 2 feet in front of my face without glasses or contacts - I haven't found it difficult to read. And if I did, that's what them readers are for.

There aren't as many posts per page but that just reminds me to read them all and not just fly through them to the bottom so I can open my big yap and post what I'm thinking.

And if 700Classic is posting something, assume the smiling face. If there was a smirky face, we'd both use it...along with a bunch o others, I'm sure! :D

I suppose with time we'll get used to it, but it's not as easy on the eyes as the old format was. Too much white, too bright or something. Maybe my eyes are just getting old;) smileys are not as cute as old ones!

A good way for Window users to zoom in or out is to hold down the "CTRL" key and roll your mouse thumb wheel up or down. Tried with the above example and it works fine.

do we need all the space filler such as: what member they are, really who cares. do we need the jion date and post count behind every post? Do we need location shown on every post? just uses up space. what the heck is reply with quote? I who has a few posts has never used this? what is it? Just to much junk to deal with. lets clean it up please. speed has gotten better.

Excellent tip there Double "Z"!! You may never know how many pairs of eyes you've saved.

(Although the giant smiley faces are a little disturbing)

On a positive note, I was pleased to see (or almost see[SUP]1[/SUP] :) ) the new third row of icons in the message composition window for inserting and modifying tables, inserting horizontal lines, and for formatting superscripts and subscripts.

In the previous forum version, I was generally able to do superscripts and subscripts by using the MS Windows Character Map, but inserting horizontal lines was a challenge, and inserting/manipulating tables was even more of a nuisance. 'Tis nice to finally be able to do those functions directly in the message composition window.

However, I note that the whitespace issue strikes again in tables: The table rows are far too tall for the font used, and I have not found a way to adjust the row height, even using the table properties.

([SUP]1[/SUP] The icons are so faint as to be nearly invisible.)

I, for one, will give it some time before giving my opinion on how I feel about the changes. I know that most of us are not that crazy about change, if it is not something that we have some say in. That being said, I think that in time we will all get used to it, and may even be happy with the changes. I am sure that John would not approve any changes that would not be a positive change. Give it some time people.
