Okay Guys, what riding technique or smooth moves do you plan to master this year to enhance your Mountain riding skills?

I am shooting for getting down the "wrong leg forward" move. The RMK Pro and I have no issue in side hilling and after Lennies skoolin', "wrong leg forward" will take me to the next level of sidehillin'.

How about you? what do you want to Master this winter?

Come on you Chicken ***** man up. what skills you working on. we are in Mtn. section so the bar hopping is out. I would and along with the crew I ride with would like to do an overnight servival (sic) stint in the bush. Build a base camp and go thru all the things needed to make it a couple days in the bush eh? then ride out. Bucket list item. if we get Olafs pack we could stay the winter!!! love you Keith!

Yea, wrong foot forward, been doing that since my renegade.

Moves I would like to work on, get better sidehilling on the right side, and the hop over, but, I am afraid I am to fat short, or both, for that manuever. Tried it a couple of times in the garage, missed one time and slid my shin down the side of the running board. OOOOOUCH!

The elevator is a pretty cool manuever too.

A re-entry is something I would like to work on also.

Been working on that damn spider monkey leap over for a while now. I've got the garage jump down pat, just can't seem to put it into practice in the real world!!lol. Usually end up a few feet away from my flipped over and stuck sled!!

Whew! Thought I was alone on that one.

I don't think I will ever master the spider monkey move. I am a little taller version of a fireplug then Skylar. Maybe one a day but will need to remove seat first. :)

If I could somehow master the zero turn, I'd be forever grateful. It'd be nice to do a controlled turn going downhill to be able to reattack the hill.

"J" turn or "Bull dog Manuver looks like a broken leg in waiting, if I tried it!

Agreed. I have a fear that my rudder foot would snag a log and *snap*. Still, it'd be nice to be able to make that controlled uphill turn versus riding back downhill to a flatter portion.

I have many failed attempts at the full u turn back down the hill where skis are up.sled starting to loose power or getting to thick. pull over rear stays almost put swing around back down hill .
got that part it is the holding on after nose comes down.
I end up off the side.
I will get it down this yr or keep buying arms from the gost rides in to only tree with in miles

Not that it would help in every circumstance, but I've wrecked a good amount with the ghost rides and am in the process of trying to make an electromechanical switch tied into a tether that will lock the brake on if you break free with the tether. It's just tough finding a switch small enough yet strong enough... Stupid idea, but in my mind it makes sense to have...

A move to keep you from getting stuck is the pin and wiggle. Right when you think you are going to get stuck pin it and shake and wiggle your sled. This will take the weight off the running boards and give the track some traction to move you out. I learned this from Chris Burant schooled 4 video. I need to try this.

I wanna learn how to burp the gas tank when topping off... :). Aside from that...., would like to figure out the same maneuver Ezra describes on a descent, and turning back up. They make it look simple in the vids, but I'm either "that stupid", or its tougher than it looks!" I'm hoping its the latter....;)

I call that a "J" turn. That's what it looks like when done correctly. Mine looks more like a lmnop then my sled stops in a tree well. Lol

You have to commit on the J turn. When you are ready to make the turn going down hill tip that sled over hard and hammer it, it will come right around. You don't need to plant the outer foot unless you need to turn really sharp and fast. then step back over the sled
and go. It takes a little snow depth to do this manuver.
