Agree with all of that. Dealers should like that for spring sales, and ordering in season inventory. But in turn, it could hurt fall/preseason sales. So if you want one, you have to act on it now creates snow check sales now. The old days were like that on the snow check specials only. That has been awhile ago though. What else new does Poo have???????? 4 strokes??????????
Marketing is definitely shifting in the snowmobile market for all manufacturers.
-As Kip stated Yamaha is restricting production to snow-checks on 19's to a large degree.
-Arctic Cat has not dropped a big rebate program this year on 18's yet, this is witnessed as the Sidewinder twin to the A/C Turbo is less expensive and a better sled. Very odd to me as snow in the Midwest was one of the worst.
-Polaris has fewer incentives out at this time of year compared to last year for leftover current year models, for instance one year ago you could get a new 2017 XCR 600 manual start for $8,000. This same 2017 sled is STILL available one year later and they want $8,392 for it?
-Ski-Doo who is generally the tightest (in my experience) has plenty of incentive money out there for leftover 2018's (with the most on the Gen-4 850) plus zero percent financing for 3 years. This is a departure from past years and likely a play to role in eating neighboring market share.
Last week, when I picked up my new sled I talked to the owner who sells A/C, Polaris and Ski-Doo he said he and other peer Polaris Dealers would have scathing feedback at the 2018 Dealer meeting. He scoffed at A/C and Polaris for forcing him to hold leftover sleds with low incentives to move them.
I was also told Ski-Doo has 60% of the sled market in WI.
Being a Dealer of any brand is a tough profession.
