You are welcome. I cant wait for that trip. My new 9 inch wheels and two wheel conversion kit should be in tommarow, I already have the new rails I need so all I have to do is put them on and I will be ready to ride.

Yes, I watch the oil level. All true on the air in the line/first tank issues. BUT, if you check those things before you fire the motor, there is no need to add extra oil.

I'll be willing to bet manufacturers recommend the first tank premix to cover their butts because they don't prime the oiling system.

You got to look at it as covering our butts too. Who cares that warranty is paying when you are missing prime riding time with sled in shop because you don't follow what they asked you to do. I only know of one case that an oil pump did not work from the factory new, that is all it takes to wreck a guys winter. He premixed first tank, then checked his oil at end of tank and his oil tank was still full. this was on a Doo. We got it to a dealer and the dealer said, "Oh my, this could of been bad." they had it fixed in under an hour. Safe is always better than sorry.

haha.

I was not planning on putting on the two wheel conversion kit but my wallet told me that was the better option. It was either that or three 9 inch billet wheels to go with my new ice age rails that came preset for 9 inch wheels, and the three billet wheels was about another $50.00

Back when I started buying New my best friend and riding partner who is a 5star yammi mech and a very large dealer here said to heat cycle the sled in the summer months before you get out to ride first time....I have lived by that theory to this day every new sled to this day....run it on the stand let the motor get hot then shut it down and let cool down all the way down then do it again....and again...don't super tune it and rev too high on the stand.....then ride it like you stole.....

When I first bought a motorcycle several years ago, I was reading different things about break in. I had a 'race bike' (I don't have them anymore for various reasons) that was a 4 stroke.

The studies showed that if you ran them basically like you stole them for the first 20 minutes (I think but it's been a while), and changing the oil, that it was better for a new motor. If they were babied and had burrs and things like that on the cylinders, rings, etc., that by babying them it would cause wear in the cylinder walls. By running them wide open it knocked the burrs off.

They actually had pictures of what happened to the inside's of the motor. Probably online somewhere. It could be different for a 2 stroke though.
