New sled, couple questions

Traded my 2000 z440 for a 2000 zl600 efi.

196 studs, 6,500 miles with rebuilt engine and clutches less then 700 miles ago.

Did some small things to it mostly handlebars and cosmetics.

First question, what should I know about this sled that are well knowns such as bad mpg, heard about some grease fitting by speedo cable near engine, common things that I should know about.

Second, I want a little more power out of the sled, and currently looking for some exhaust with a quite, not loud can. What is better brand? Single or Double?

I find used ones out there but is there a difference in carb and efi modeled pipes?

And is there a chip or something I can get also?

Clutch was rebuilt at goodwin, dont know exactly what was put in but it snaps. Also will be getting the breather from D&D

Thanks JD

I used to have one of these and the MPG was horrible. I put a chip in from Black Majic and it helped but was never as good as others that I rode with. Black Majic is no more, but I would bet some of the other shops (Speedwerx, etc.) may still make a chip for this sled available.

should of bought a 700 or 800.

Sometimes mods can wear more on an engine decreasing it's life. Also, if the mods aren't done right, you are wrenching more than riding.

now if an 800 doesn't have enough....then mod it out and good luck, lol

just my crazy honest opinion

find some used black magic twins shave 9tho of the head play with the carbs fit a spring in between break pads where pin slides through top of pad clutch kit you will still be at around 122hp at 8400 to 8500rpm but you will take a stocker 6sleds in 1000ft.or save your Penney's run it have fun save some money and buy a 01 02 03 zr 800 or 900 in July for 2500 or less.or if you really want to go fast find a thunder
