I like it.

Snoluver1 is working hard on the Make-A-Wish sled restoration project. Someone could have a real nice ride to bring to the party!

I think I'm out for this year but I wouldn't rule out the following year. Might look around for a project this spring. This is something that has to be handled very delicately at home, if you know what I mean.

Actually, every spring there is a vintage ride-in at Copper Harbor. Don't want to mess up anything that might happen at Lenny's, but the event gets bigger and bigger every year and there are some very cool sleds there. I am no expert, but some look to be from about the time they were invented (A few have looked more like mini-bulldozers (two tracks) than the sled look we are all used to). I am not sure of the date, but remember it being sometime in early to mid March. Lots of vintage sled collectors here in the Keweenaw.

John,
Any chance you may be interested in the vintage ride. I have a friend here on your board who is a old school sled guy and has a few. Could hook you up with a sled reasonably. He has a Deere and a yamaha that are nice. Copper Harbor is a long ride from here on a wash board,,,he he he

We usually have 20 - 25 of us for a long vintage weekend in February. We try to make the Naubinway show if snow permits but do get in some trail time on Thursday, Friday & Sunday. Really test the old sleds that didn't stay together when new, and now 35-40 years later we expect them to be any better? Three years ago we had two breakdowns out of 20 some sleds. Got in several hundred miles. Two years ago we brought 4 home that still ran out of 20 some. Last year no breakdowns at all. We make it fun!

How nice of one are you looking for? I have one coming to me this sat. It's complete, fairly straight, needs work. I'm gonna fix it up and probably sell it, still not a big dollar sled.

Nice machine slimcake. I'm actually looking for one of these, myself.

the mid 70's sleds did a lot better that the late 60's early seventies. The first time I came to them UP to sled I hauled up a 74 Merc S/R 440, ran well and actually was so cold that trip it was the only sled that ran perfect all weekend. My buddy had a scorpion TK and the other guy has an old 77 exciter. We beat the crap out of those things.

Pretty nice I guess. Don't have a lot of time or patience for looking for parts and stuff anymore. Actually all this talk about vintage sleds has me checking out Craigslist now. There's a few I would like to go check out but I wont have time until after the holidays. Pete, I saw a nice shiny and clean 250 Enticer on there if your interested.:)

I think maybe we do need a vintage sled section eh.:)
Lenny, I'd be up for a vintage meet up if I do get a vintage sled. It would have to be from the mid 70s or newer if I'm actually going to ride it any distance though.:D

How much for clean running Enticer?
Had interest in a Bravo last year but guy was downstate IL.
Ovation, Enticer, Bravo would be good just want to ice fish & have fun with kids & fishing sled.

I'm in same boat can't be chasing around for parts & going to be a sensitive issue with the wife. Never should have sold our Bravo but could not say "No" to handicap kid's Dad. Other neighbor came over handful of cash told him "No"kept word to handicap kid. Oh well...:(

Wow my first 800 magnum WILD looking machine. Bet it was bad in its day when you could keep it together. My brother just told me this AM he still has a 72 RUPP in the garage I don't know what model. Very nice restorestions on all your sleds.

That trail twister is sharp! All of them are cool.
When I was a kid, I used to ride on the neighbors TX 440. Good times.

Rupp Collector:

Finally got around to looking at your pics. Just what you posted makes for an amazing collection! The Brut is something else!

Sled restoration seems to becoming more popular. Probably because compared to auto restoration, the cost is generally lower. Still, anyone who has attempted any sled restoration has an appreciation for the amount of time and work involved.

Well Done!

Rupp collector, your work is sweet,,,,the sleds look new from the pics. Give me an example of what one can be worth after a resto, say the trail twister. Looks like they need to be complete, straight to start with so you don't have to replace everything.

White dust, the guy who is doing the sno jet for me knows of a nice exciter and wants $400. I have not seeen it but the guy is as nice and sharp as could be

Lenny,

Values vary. That trail twister is pretty much original except the seat cover. Not worth much to someone that's not into Merc's. I'd let that one go for around $1750. You have to love the restore part or you won't be at it long. I've seen some sleds go up to and over $20,000. All depends. The most valuable are normally the muscle sleds of days gone by with big engines and limited production numbers. I'll try and get shots of my other sleds. Got another 20 or so I could post. Rupps & Polaris mostly.
