It has been tough on the dealers in our area. The Cat dealer gave up the franchise at the end of January. I heard today that the Doo dealer is closing the doors. That leaves just the Yamaha and Poo dealer, and sleds are an afterthought for him.

I know Ecklund's said they bought 25 doo's from dealership in ND when I was in there in early March, and they only had few left.

I think as whole sales end up decent, just some areas better than others that's all.

no idea with poo but with cat at least the way it was. u had to buy so much inventory before u could buy anything out of salvage. now days the salvage sleds are not the bargains they once were but parts and gear still are. I think some of the big box dealers make less just so they can dump more and make the cash out of salvage ? is poo 1 price shipping any place in the lower 48 also

What do you mean by salvage? Non current models? Or trades? When I read salvage I think of insurance salvage. I'm wanting to know if maybe I use the terminology, salvage, if I can get myself a better deal on my next new sled. Just trying to learn a little, never too old to learn.

that is what they called it back when black magic was still around. dealer returns over stock non current employe demos etc etc.
now not sure what they call it but I still have access to the site they sell the stuff on deals are no place close to what they once were on sleds.

Thats the direction I was kind of thinking when I read it, but wanted to know for sure, THANKS. Is the site you have access to public site, or only to the chosen few. Wouldn't mind checking it out time to time if you sent a link.

I bought my 2006 from Country Cat on ebay. It was 2 model years old salvage, new with 1 year warrantee on mechanical but nothing on fit, finish, etc. I got a $9299 sled for $4900 and free financing for 90 days. I also still get the gas tank fixes as well.

I haven't seen anything quite that good since. The economy was crashing at that time so I guess I was lucky.

All dealers pay the same price. There is no discount for ordering more or less, it's straight across the board. If a so called volume dealer is selling cheaper it's because he has a lot of inventory and he's willing to take a loss, it happens in business all the time. Some dealerships like to be the big dog which isn't always the smartest business decision. I've heard it a million times in my store that dealerships who order big get them cheaper and it's simply not true. Anyone who's been in business will understand this. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. We're naïve to think it's Always Sunny In Sledsylvania:) My two cents:)

Yes and no...... I think overhead comes into play here also. I know of a few dealers that have been at the same place selling sleds for 40+ years. You would have to think by now that a lot of expenses like the building, some of the inventory, and a few things would be paid off. But then again maybe not....... I think those with newer big buildings might have a lot more in overhead than mom & pop with a small, but adequate building. So I think that them might be able to sell a little lower without losing $$$ just because of this.

Country Cat has blown out a pile of sleds over the last month at fire sale prices. They don't want to store them all summer and then take a hit on them next fall anyway. Kip - what is the floorplan and how does it work for sleds? If that is a none-of-your-business-question I understand.

I bought two Vipers this year, one from Kip, and one down here in NE WI. Both prices darn near the same. For me it works perfect, I have a great dealer in the yoop and another here at home. Can't get any better than that!!!!!

Well I heard that we lost another area cat dealer today. The dealer in Warren, Mn which was our closest Cat dealer had his inventory picked up. Now our closest Arctic Cat dealer is RV Sports in Thief River Falls which is over 50 miles away.
