New Snowmobile Trail Signing

There is no educating people here. I thick the bulk of us will manage the changes with little inconvience.

As stated before, it's the idiot teenage ricky rockets that are going to kill people and ride'em like their dad bought them. If I offend someone, I don't care! This the worst thing I've seen happen to our sport ever!

You can always educate! If the word doesn't get out there will be more accidents, so we all must tell everyone what has changed I think it's the only way to help. I'm thinking about me, my family, my friends, our guests, everyone it's the only way to make it safer TELL PEOPLE!!

Dave_B, the Ricky Racer isn't just teenagers. I seen adults that should know better doing the Ricky Racer thing. I guess some people just don't get wiser with age. I agree though, most of us will manage. We will just have to be on the lookout for the one that can't, as usual!

Linda - What I meant to say was, there's no real need to educate the people here on John Dee. Didn't come out quite right.

Yeah but Dave there are 16,000 members if everyone tells someone what they read on here and what signs are going to be gone I can't think anything but it will help. Word travels fast...

Skylar, maybe if they know there are no signs to guide them through their drunk drive home they won't drink as much. I think it those confidence signs that bring on the speed, well it just my thinking and hoping it will slow them down

It again all depends on if the word gets out, maybe ricky racer and donald drunk just maybe will think about it.

When it a blizzard and you can't see the signs everyone slows down don't they?! just sayin' :)

I worry more about the dudes that have been drinking all day, than I do Ricky Racer.

I think they kind of fall in the same class and probably the riders that 700classic is speaking of.

I agree with you Linda and I love your optimism but, let's face it, we are creatures of habit and all have the "it won't happen to me" mentality so hopefully this whole thing doesn't blow up in the DNR's face.

Another reason why I would never spend a dime with MSA! Dumbest thing I ever heard suggested! Let the blood be on their hands when people start exploding on trees!!

Signs to guide the drunks home- love it!! they won't be able to see them anyway but good try!!

By the way, I kind of like changes -just fun to see the comments and the panic!! Some are pretty funny

Are they going to take the stop signs down too to make us slow down? Oh wait, then the DNR couldn't make any $!!!

Well since it is a done deal as Linda stated. I feel the DNR should put together a one page informational guide of the changes made and obligate all sellers of the trail stickers to hand out one per sticker at the time of sale. This may reduce the learning curve a bit and educate safe and unsafe riders alike.....maybe.

That's the BEST response ever! Thanks for the great input tomx!! This is something I will contact the DNR with, great idea!!

At the very least each & every trail head should have a trail sign use poster or insert it in each trail map. You GPS guys need software for the map key & good to go. It is what it is a done deal so we have to swing with the changes & hope for the best. If there is an increase in accidents the MSA & DNR will never blame it on signage it will always be the riders fault or just an accident. Stuff happens out there. I don't agree with removing signage but it is what it is for this season.

I'm looking forward to putting less signs up in the Fall. It's a lot of work. Great idea in my humble opinion. Just slow down and there should not be any problems. Maybe that's the whole point.

You're right. This is the whole point. Everybody should slow down.

Reality: If putting up one more sign saves one life, I'd spend whatever time is required to put it up.
Reality: Most of us already ride at a safe speed.
Reality: There will be the usual suspects that don't and people will die.

JMO But,

With the "NEW" requirements required by each club, (read the whole bill) what is really accomplished??

Love the DNR, DNRE or whatever they are.

I would love them to come on a regular "trail" ride with us anytime. Put a Ranger in the lead, and see what happens. I will be the sweeper, of course, and provide my opinion on his/her ability as a "leader".

Take down signs, put up signs??? What a bunch of crap! As long as they pay the club to do this, let's go for it! If you're daughter dies because of a sign that was required to be removed, well done DNR (do not resitate)!

No sense! The more sineage to make riding safer should be the priority. I hope they take the clubs out of their liability clause!

I will be off trail this year as much as possible. If I hit a tree and run with the spirit horse, it's my problem!

Keep the trails safe!
