New Yamahas Tomorrow

Everybody is playing a guessing game of OEM future outlook when only 1 OEM Yamaha released their 15 lineup. Wait to see what others do as well with 15s? To be honest I don't expect much from any of them more refinement, more BNG, no big break thurs. All OEMs make good sleds be happy with that fact! Just my 2 cents of where we are today.

LMAO @ RUN YAMAHA OUTTA TOWN......keep dreaming doo riders.....

I may be a Yamaha fan (and Cat Fan too)....but it wouldn't surprise me if Yamaha dropped their sled line...how long can you go with such low market share...

Make up your mind already.

They all make good products, and yea no one knows whats coming. My guess is poo brings something for their big anniversary. Doo would like nothing more than to rain on that parade and one up them with something. I seen some leaked facebook photos of polaris and doo's, couldnt tell what the engine said on the doo. Looked like a beefier XS to me, so im guessing they stuffed a 4s in there. Cat will prolly make there C-tec an 800 altho everyone makes a POS 800 they are all JUNK LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

I never said they had the resources of Yam or Doo, I said enough resources to keep up. Have u checked market share lately? I think Poo is keeping up, especially vs. Yamaha. I may need to go back to school but I don't twist others statements. BTW, you aren't biased or defensive at all. LOL

I keep hearing of all the resources that Doo has, I think that Polaris is a larger company with more resources than BRP, I have said before that BRP split of from Bombardier years ago and where owned mainly by Bain Capital (Mitt Romney's company) and just went public last year. They are the market share leader at this time but Polaris is not far behind and I think that the sled business is important to all of them. They all also make great sleds in my opinion.

you guys are all drunk thinking Yamaha will exit. Why would they, they sell the quantity they produce and if they get a piece of the pie than that just adds to all the other stuff they make. They don't have to be number one in everything they do but they do make very reliable and quality products weather it fits your style or not. There is a large portion of middle age and older people who love the smooth, reliable, efficient qualities of Yamaha sleds and that's a good thing. Like many people, if I were looking for a trail sled fore me, who is no longer aggressive, and just cruises, than Yamaha hands down. Why would I even consider a poo 800, or a doo 800, I'm already twitchy from things blowing up and riding one of those flexi, disposable tin cans ain't gonna cut it. Look in the tech section and see who is fixing what. Poo and doo is high numbers.

Another funny thing, I love the comments and wisdom from "fusion",,,,,,,,,,the name says it all. The poo fusion will be andd has been the worst pile of dung produced in history, Sorry bud but that machine is majpr league heapish. Now back to your previously scheduled programing

Some 10 months ago when I heard Chris what's his name say that Yamaha will come out with a new sled in each of the next 5 years, I had the nagging feeling that in all reality he meant a new version of a catamaha sled.

From this day forward I will refer to all combined catamahas as CATS, just as i did when Cat used Kawi motors, just as when they used Suzuki motors. There is no difference to me.

They are blue, red and orange cats.

You 2014 Viper owners are riding Arctic Cats.

You 2015 buyers will also be on Arctic Cats.

Get used to it....not a terrible thing, but stop the dillusion already.

Be Cat. Be Proud!

that's real cute and all.
now if they could just incorporate some of that technology into their skid they wouldn't be 5 years behind everyone elses'.

Did we all miss this??.... sounds very cool. I'm looking into backward compatible damper kits for 2012 Apex XTX sounds cool for 2015.
http://www.supertraxmag.com/article.asp?nid=2675 I will tell you all what this feels like from the whitedust butt on vector 2015 test ride.lol :D

yes and no, chassis is cat, motor is Yam, Cat uses their clutches which are a problem and Yamaha uses there's and no problems. I wouldn't be all that proud of Cat in the clutch department. We can look at it both ways, without Yamahas motors in the cat chassis it would be a yucky turbo 4s that without the turbo is a pile, even with the turbo not all that impressive. 12 model years ago Yamaha put all their apples into the 4s basket and has done well, to say that is not risky and innovative is a lie. If they had stayed in the 2s they would be building the same leaned out blowing up motors like poo and doo. No doubt Cat has a great 800 and a great chassis to boot.

In all honesty, the viper and the Cat version are milestones in aggressive 4s rough trail capabilities. 2015 models should produce some real good rides and if someone is ever thinking about checking them out now is the time. Both companies were in need and the niche seems to be filled. Some like yourself will not accept a blended model because in your mind you somehow feel compromised when in reality you ought to let the machine speak for itself and not worry so much about it's heritage. Do you do the same with mazda using Ford motors or when benz and mopar were doin it. It happens all the time and usually the result is a higher quality machine but at the expense of our pride cause after all I am a Yamaha, dodge and Bosche man, God forbid I mix it up with the enemy!

For me I like backward compatible improvements & wish more OEMs would offer like improvements. In the case of the dampers I have an opportunity to test ride see what I think & if dampers do what I think they could do as far as rebound in front & rear they could be a very good bolt on improvement.

Not really a game changer but sure helpful for current chassis. Little video showing how it works.

X2 Lenny.
Yamaha moves at a snail's pace. They don't over react and rush things to market. Also realize they had 3/4 engines in 3 different chassis which is pretty unique. So I'm sure got behind in r&d trying new chassis.

Well said Lenny. Everything is changing in todays world and as humans its tough for us to accept everything that's going on let alone comprehend it all when it's coming at you so fast and furious. I personally am thankful for all four of the big sled manufacturing companies. In the end, we are all on the same team aren't we? Trails are awesome guys! Run what ya brung!!!

Yea, lenny I see we agree. ....No one calls a Mazda a Ford due to its engine, just the same as my point that we always have called them cats no matter whos engine they buy.
Even the "all new cat" 600 is based heavily on the suzuki engineered laydown engine which is one of the most durable 2 strokes over the past decade in their 6,7 and 8 versions.

I think many will continue to hold out hope that the statement of a new model in each of the next 5 years or as it stands now.....the next 4 years, will include an all yamaha package. We will see.

Does anybody really know how much input Yamaha had in the developement of the F-4 chassis?? Keep in mind...they have been testing the nytro motor in a cat chassis since 2009...just saying...that motor fits pretty well in there.

Agree with almost everything you said...but not about Benz and Mopar. That was a disaster for Benz and their quality crashed. I know because i was a victim. I owned before the merger, during and after. Benz disconnected ( I don't know who initiated it and don't care) and the quality has not only been restored but has really been impressive to me in the last 5-6 years.

The reason I'm even bringing this up is because I don't want Yamaha's to be as Mercedes was while tied to Chrysler. That was a bad move for Benz and I'm not really excited about the new arrangement. Not because I'm anti Cat, but because I don't want problems to spread into Yamaha. I don't care about "rough trail" capabilities. My XTX does fine for what I want out of a machine. Even my Venture GT is good enough for me. Yamaha feels like they need a sled to cater to those who want the "rough trail" capabilities. I'm surprised with their knowledge and ingenuity they can't develop one on their own....
