I'm surprized with the forecast LES Snow Warnings of deep snow, and Johns endorsment albeit for a day or two, that no one is gonna ride, instead tire suggestions and a place to stay out west in Feb is on top and whining about no snow.

My new Trail passes came today! and my sleds are all ready,...

Cold for 2 days,... then back into the 40's,....
YOU SUCK MOTHER NATURE!!!!

sorry,... not really much of a whine,...
But MERRY CHRISTMAS Anyway!!!!

I think most people aren't into early season riding like I am........

They want flat groomed and fast trails. Or copious amounts of off trail powder.

Typical early snow conditions. I am not complaining, it is nice to see consistent white, and we will be one of very few places that will get to enjoy a White Christmas. Too early for me to pull the trigger, other than perhaps a quick rip around town just to give things a final quick check before the serious fun can be had.-Mezz

Need to get some peeps riding to know what is good, bad or indifferent. Trail condition websites not reporting anything yet either most locations back to March 2015. Webcams don't look like much snow so far...difficult to get pumped about current conditions maybe more LES will dump soon. Have you been riding Cords? How is it?

I have not been out on sled yet, but from the reports I have to far. Toivola looks to be the winner so far with around 12-14" of snow. South Range, Tri-Mountain and Painesdale around 10-14". Drops off as you head south of Toivola. No report from Twin Lakes yet, but looks like maybe 5-6?

Houghton/Hancock/Calumet 7-10". I had 4 and is still snowing, maybe an inch since. Likely to be less north of me.

Most areas from Mass City to Delaware will see 3-5" more today and a couple more tonight.

So if one were wanting mid-season conditions, forget it. If you want to ride and do not mind some puddles to navigate in spots, then one could put snow in tunnel.

The snow that fell last night in the Keweenaw actually has some density, it's not lake effect super fluff. It's a good start.

Sorry...but I just can't get excited about the yoop only having snow....I like it better when Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Lower Michigan all have snow...so the traffic is spread out....we love riding up there...but not when they are the only place with snow...sure it's great for the businesses up there, and I'm happy for them...but the trails get smoked, and they never really develop a good base...you will get a mixed bag of thin spots and areas with bumps the size of volkswagons...you will also wait in line for gas...and the few FOOD joints up there will be packed. (no such thing as a quick burger and back on the sled).....NO THANKS!!!

Sorry to be the turd in the punch bowl...lol.....but that area just can't handle the amount of traffic it will see the next three weeks (especially if Minnesota, and northern Wisconsin remain snowless).....been there...done that (many times over the past 25 years of riding up there)....don't have the patients for that anymore...that just doesn't excite me...we like going there to get away from people.. when the traffic is more spread out.... not confined to a 100 mile radius.

Attak man- You are spot on with your observations of early season U P conditions. You read my mind. Let the others "have fun" up there.

My UPS delivery man just stopped by, he lives in Chassell and had 15" new! Right up to the bumper on his truck. Looks like the banana belt was the winner so far!

I have stories from "back in the day"...(2001-2002..a notorious low snow winter for everyone..little to no snow in Minnesota, or northern wisconsin ) when I worked at The golden harp in Twin Lakes...when we were the only area with snow....it was so busy you couldn't move...from the time we opened the door...until the time we closed....wall to wall people...and of course being one of the few places with food...we got our butts kicked...and dealing with crabby people who didn't want to wait for food was NO FUN....of course with the amount of traffic we had the trails were usually beat by noon...so all we heard was pissing and moaning about the bumps..ALL DAY LONG!!!...it got old real fast...so...no...I don't want to ride like that....EVER!!!
