Got it out!!! Loctite?

I got it out! Now i'm wondering If i need loctite on the bottom side. In the 3rd pic, there looks to be loctite visible on the old mount. To get the bottom tight, what do i do? I'm thinking put a nut on the top and tighten it? right now i put a spacer under the nut to try and do so, but i want to make sure if i need loctite or not.

Don't use the top stud to tighten the mount you will rip it.I would not use loctite because if you need to do this agian it won't come out.Just tighten it up the best you can with the ears on the lower half.

How is the bottom nut going to stay from coming loose though? It doesn't appear to be any sort of locnut

I had the sled finished up a couple hours ago, got my dad's $22 washer in his rear suspension and rode his for .6 miles on all the snow we got. Now I just gotta go weld the U-pipe up tomorrow at school.

When the bottom part of the motor mount is tight and then the top nut is tightened nothing is going to spin or loosen up because the bottom nut is captured. The torque on most nuts and bolt is sufficient to hold because of friction.

I guess that makes sense now. I put the tiniest little dab of blue loctite on there. All good now.

I'd mig weld the pipe. Bead blast it first to get it as clean as possible. Tig doesn't work as good on old/dirty metal. That one may have cracked because of the motor mount being roken, but will probably crack again. Meantime, watch Ebay for one that isn't cracked.

I'm cheap, i got welders in abundance available at school, I'll just keep on welding it if that's what it takes.

Got the pipe welded up. Took me a SUPER LONG TIME. Since I was so far ahead in class, i welded all class for 45 minutes PLUS 15 minutes after school. I COULD NOT BELIEVE how long it took me. It was basically tack after tack with the voltage turned WAY down. I had to build off of each tack. Still gotta clean up the inside with my die grinder.

I have thought about that. I really want to be a CNC machinist but we'll see, I got a while yet.

Sled ran AWESOME! Thanks to rp7x for the motor mounts, and Ray's cycle (motoski) for rebuilding my clutches. No clicking, no clunking when i brake, and no vibration hardly at all! Tops out at 8100 rpms (i found a nice flat ditch :) ) and gunned er pretty good. Plugs aren't lean at all anymore, actually, they are super rich. I haven't really opened up my sled at all this year due to all the funny noises i've been hearing, but tonight, NOTHING! I never truly knew how much power it had! lol, I was standing up and gunned it and almost fell off! I think I can sleep tonight, and the sled, and the tools/garage... FOR NOW! To top it off we got 3.5" according to my measurment. A nice snow with NO WIND, but wind is going to pick up tomorrow, hopefuly they get out and pan the trails tonight, and we should be back up and running with another 3-4".

Looks good Indy, did you get my email?

Just checked it, sorry for not checking earlier! I brought the windy into the house and talked to my dad, he said we could ship it. Were you looking to have it shipped to your house or will you be in the area sometime? Another thing is, you didnt completly say you "want it" lol so are you still interested? I can throw up some pics of the actual shield. I have a few extra windshield o-rings and possibly a dart or 2 i can throw in if you need them. Before I call you or you call me, I just wanted to know if you wanted it shipped or picked-up. I'm assuming if you want it shipped, you'll want to discuss how to pay (I don't have a paypal). I sent you a pm and an e-mail too if you don't want to discuss it here on this thread.

ok so bolt some old inner tube type stuff on the bottom of doors so snow dont blow in but can still open close doors

I thought about all sorts of stuff, but i need super flappy thin rubber something or else making the doors shorter was useless. I only made them shorter so they can swing open in more snow.
