Hi guys! OMG - it's a winter wonderland here in MN!! I can't believe my eyes!
Now don't jump on me about this - but it's still too early!! I had fully loaded tomato plants - tons of green tomatos!!! Now they are inside and I'm just hoping some of them will turn red!!

Larry - where are you honey? you can still type with your left hand!!! How's your shoulder?

My knee is up and down - therapy seems to be helping - but time will tell for sure. I only hope I don't have to join the surgery club we seem to have going on here!! LOL

Back to work - I dislike Mondays!!!

Ok heres the info on the surgery, its gonna take about 2 hours, they have to sew up the rotator cuff with kevlar thread, then the bones in my shoulder have been rubbing together so they have to grind them down, then they have scrape out some Arithritis that has started forming in the joint because of the injury, now for the fun part the tendon is frayed and has become detached from the bone so they are going to put in some screws with kevlar loops on them, they put the screws into the bone and cut the tendon and thread the tendon through the kevlar loops and sew it back together with kevlar thread, apparently these screws will desolve in about a year leaving the tendon tied back down to the bone. I don't know about you guy's but it scares the crap out me, I hope it works. Now for the good news I might be able to go for a ride the end of Feb. first part of March but prolly just trails no boondockin. Just might have to hire me a gumba to tag along and start the big old 800 either that or put on the electric start.HAHAHAA

Forgot to mention they are gonna tape it all and give me a copy, some beers and popcorn or maybe a taco salad and we could have movie nite.HAHAHA

HEY HI TOM! Welcome!

HI SUZY!

Brad - HOLY CRAP... My shoulder hurts. Kevlar huh... well at least your shoulder will be bullet proof! BAH!

So when do you do all this? How long will you be off work? You have hire Jim to be your gumba... He won't have anything else to do all winter.

Scoopy - Good to hear that you are getting around and your knee is doing well!

Still no job here. I am still looking at two opportunities, with today being a "holiday" I didn't hear anything of either one. So hopefully tomorrow has some news.

I've gone through all my job boards and have updated my resumes on all of them. So maybe this week I will get some more calls.

Other than that... nothing but some BEAUTIFUL SNOW today!

This is TWICE in less than a week that we've had a blanket of snow on the ground! Should I call it MinneSNOWta??? I'll wait on the name change until later. I mean, we could actually have a SNOWY WINTER... heck, the Queens are 5 n' 0 so obviously anything is possible!

REV IT UPx3!

Brad - Your shoulder sounds eerily familiar, just like mine 4 years ago. There is an old thread that has a lot of great info and advice that you may want to read through before your surgery. See MISCELLANEOUS/ROTATOR CUFF(TORN).

I'll only offer my best bits of advice:

1) Buy Kelly a nice dinner and some flowers now, you're gonna need the credit-the first days after the surgery you'll understand.
2) Make sure you have some "old man pants", elastic waist so you can get them on & off by yourself with only one arm.
3) If this is your dominant arm - start learning how to wipe your butt with the other hand now!

Any questions, just ask!

Ken

Thanks Ken, yup its my dominant arm, went through the whole butt wiping thing in 05 when I had Carpel Tunnel surgery on my right hand.HAHAHA

Kelly will be busy but I really think she is looking forward too it (I hope its not in an evil way)HAHAHA

Holy shat Brad...you did a number on that shoulder. It's amazing how they can fix things up nowadays. I think that would be just awesome to watch on tape, maybe you could post it so I can down load it. Just make sure they keep your darn gown on, lmao. Good luck with the surgery.

Bradzoo - Youch! Your description of surgery makes me hurt, but I guess I had some similar stuff done to my knee. I know that they took a a piece of bone from my patella, a third of my tendon in the front of my knee, and a piece of bone from my tibia and drilled holes in my femur and tibia and threaded the bone-tendon-bone through the drilled holes and Wallah! I have a replaced ACL (at least I think I have that right). I think they hold the bone plugs in with screws, but I'm not sure. I don't think I really wanted to know. Boy, your lucky to get a video. All I got were before and after pictures. Good luck with surgery and heal quick!

Ken - wow, you had a knee and a shoulder done? Yuck!

BigVin - No snow south of you, only a few flakes mixed with rain. I would have preferred the snow. Yesteday was downright dreary here.

Squat - You really need to find a sled! You can't go without riding this winter, although I should talk after riding a whole 230 miles last year.

Enough typing. Back to work.

Scoop - Yeah, I'm just lucky that way. Right shoulder(rotator cuff) was 4.5 years ago. Left knee(ACL) was almost 2 years to the day after the shoulder.

Being right handed it really messed up my bowling game. The shoulder was healed in 3-4 months, but full strength and coordination took probably 18 months. The knee was about the same to heal, still wondering if it'll ever feel good every day. Have good days and bad, but I pretty much destroyed my knee in one stupid move....

When it comes to going through PT for joint injuries, I've been there at the extreme end and learned a lot. Any questions just ask. Just do what they tell you religiously because it will all be worth it. This is definitely a case where you get out of it what you put in to it.

Well Eric, might as well bite the bullet and get it done, that way when the girls are out sledding I'll have company at the bar, actually it'll be you, me and Larry cause it doesn't look like he will ready to ride anytime soon. Sucks cause I would rather be down in the summer, I can fish one handed, gonna be bad missing deer hunting and sleddin in the same year, but I might be able to hunt I been practicing with my 44mag left handed and I'm doing pretty good as long as its under 50yrds.

oh my - guess we better find a few pull behind sleighs for the boys when we go riding this winter?
happy.gif

Sorry - couldn't resist!
Brad - holy cow - hopefully E's shoulder won't be quite as extensive - but a lot of it sounds like his shoulder!!! What in the world do you boys do to do that much damage?•••••••

Scoopy - still doing PT on my knee - feels better - swelling down - but I think I need a new shoe wardrobe! I have all heels (mostly 3 inches or 4 inches) and it seems my knee is not real keen on those!
sad.gif
I'm still hoping I can get by with just PT!!

Ken - how's the bowling going this year? We pre-bowled on Sunday night and I had a 109 average. Terrible - I know! I kicked butt tho - so I'm hoping I can get back up to my 130's average yet!!!

speaking of PT - I'm calling now to get more referrals for it! Good thing I came out here and typed something about it!

Andie, sounds like a good idea to me.

Scoop, if you can't bend you knee by riding season maybe we can put some ape hanger handle bars on your doo and tilt them down so you can ride with your leg streched out.HAAHHAHAHA

This years theme is handicapped how to sled with injurys

Oh, that's good! Pull behind sleds! That would be classic!

Andie - I hear you on the heels! I tried wearing shoes with even small heels and because I was walking with a limp, the ball of my foot was killing me. I have abandoned wearing anything with even a slight heel and went to flat shoes. I'm glad to hear the knee is doing better. It will take time to heal, I'm sure. Be patient.

Ken - I miss bowling. I haven't bowled in years and right now I couldn't bowl if I wanted to. One of these days I will get back into it.

Bradzoo - My knee bends just fine, so no ape hangers for me! The problem is that the knee is still sore when doing certain things (like bending and straighening!). Hopefully that will go away or get better by the time I want to ride.
