Oil pump 06 Fusion 600

I noticed a small puddle of black oil on the ground under the exhaust of the ol 6 hundy the other day. I pulled the exhaust valves to find them dripping with the black oil. I clean the valves yearly and don't recall them ever being this wet. Nor have I ever seen a puddle under the exhaust. I am assuming Im getting to much oil and there is an adjustment to make on the pump to get the right mixture. Also sled has always started 2 pulls, now when cold its like a job to get er to start.

Sled has 5500 miles.

Anyone have any knowledge about this?

Routed to the opposite side of puddle. Puddle is directly under silencer pipe exiting sled. Pipe is wet/oily.

Seal in the oil pump may have went out allowing oil to drain into crankcase, be careful it doesn't fill a cylinder up and lock up one side, it tends to twist the crank when this happens.

Oil pump is probably fine,

Depending on where the oil is dripping from..................

dis-assemble the exhaust valve diaphragms, inspect for torn/ripped bellows

And / or-

After that, remove the Y-Pipe, scrape the old gasket and wipe jugs and Y-pipe mating surfaces with Brake-Clean or lacquer thinner, and assemble with new gasket and HI - TEMP orange silicone and let dry overnight in a heated garage before starting

I don't think im leaking or draining oil from the oil bottle. Oil level stays the same when sitting. The puddle of oil has definitely been burned and exhausted through the pipes.

All of these steps were taken upon finding the puddle. Bellows were inspected and good, Pipes removed, new gaskets and Hi Temp silicone replaced. Sled stays in heated garage. I fired er up today and at first when warming er up lots of black oil blowing on to ground out of exhaust. Ripped er around the property a bit and let it idle, no black oil until I pulled er in the garage and shut it down. I watched it drip slowly out from where the exhaust exits the sled. Puddle is usually the size of silver dollar. Sled seems to be running a little rich.

Is there a way to adjust the amount of oil pumped?

Maybe time for new pistons/rings?

Any more ideas, things to look at?

Thanks.

If you're sure it's oil, see if the return spring is broken / missing on the oil pump arm (Move the throttle while watching the pump arm, see if pump arm returns , or stays "stuck" in full throttle position)

Oil pump adjustment is done by adjusting the (2) 10mm jam nuts on oil cable / bracket down by the oil pump (FAR RIGHT side in the pic below, note-cable & jam nuts not in pic)

It's a real P.I.T.A. , sometimes easier to remove gas tank to get at it

There are alignment marks on the pump arm and and engine case,(Approx 3:00 position in the pic below) should be lined up at idle

Compression check should tell the story on the rings

If you are running rich the additional unburned fuel will wash old carbon from the pipe and exhaust port. The old carbon and the extra fuel gets mixed together and turns into an oiled up mess.

Not sure I would change anything on the oil pump. Find out why your running rich first.

I too am "blessed" with an 06 Fusion 600. When I pulled out of storage this year had to fix a cracked Y pipe. When I pulled the exhaust pipe off I dumped the oil out of the pipe. The oil in the reservoir was down about as much as I poured out. Oil wasn't fresh color though, from sitting in pipe it was black. While y pipe was getting repaired the sled seemed to continue to ooze oil out of the cylinders and made a puddle in belly pan then onto trailer. I asked local shop since I've not seen this issue before though this is my first Spring with the Fusion. They said that this is not unusual and that the likely cause is that you fill up the oil tank when it is cold out and when it warms up in the summer it can pressurize the tank pushing oil through the cylinders. They said ride it a while and see what happens. I did and the problem seems to be gone. Maybe you riding in the cold and parking in a warm garage is having a similar affect?? Seems like a dysfunctional oil cap could be to blame if tank getting pressurized as they said.
