Old forge Shootout

Shoot outs tomorrow. See how the spinegrinder runs vs the NA sleds.

Cat I think is geared lower so will prolly beat the Yamaha in ET?

Wonder if they are running shortys or 137's.

Assault should run good as well, especially dealer prep form

Sounds like the 850 outa the box will run strong, but the for some reason doo dealer prep is slower every year LOL. D and D will have the cats dialed in, and the poo dealer knows his sleds well too.

"spinegrinder"?? How clever of you... Do you think the "dark winged duck" has a chance if it's over 660 feet?? LOL

You making excuses already?? LOL BTW...have any of you DOO guys gotten your 850's yet??

A guy on dootalk who has an 850 and a sidewinder, says the 850 is much quicker. Yamaha stock clutching he calls soft.

660 the 850 is should win. 1000 feet close, 1320 the turbo should go around it.

we have 2 of ours in.

What excuses? The doo dealer every year runs slower ET's than the box stocker.

Where as D and D and the poo dealer make them much faster

Do you happen to know if the guy on DooTalk has weighed the two sleds? I would love to know a real life weight on the 'Winder. My guess is it will be closer to 600 than 500. Without a full tank of gas. The 850 should be superior to it in every way except absolute top end.

little tip....don't stud one of the sleds....and put a tall windshield on it....you'll find out its faster than the one with studs and a low shielder

Hopefully the 850 can hold the belt together for a 1000 foot race :)

I was gona say the same thing about the poo 800 pistons! :tennis:

In all seriousness there is a bulletin coming out about clutch alignments as some of the early summits left factory out of spec.(I kno shocker clutch alignment could cause belts to blow)

Some taller windshields run more MPH than the small ones, too tall tho...NOPE

Studs...once again LOL! You should go show them how no studs dominate drag racing, these guys have no clue what they are doing? D and D..who? Tracker Racing next haydays champ!

Yes they did weigh them. Id have to look it up but I think it was 95lbs difference

596 for winder vs 511 for doo 850. so 85lbs these we NO FUEL in either batterys installed. 129 vs 129

Jesus - 596 lbs - those engineers never learn. Might as well keep the Apex long track and save the $$'s. SMDH I see the "clique" kicking in again... For the smart Alec at the bottom - I researched it ALL when I bought my Apex - the short track was 595 claimed dry, and Vector 575. (From dealer) AND the long tracks are NOT 60 pounds more than a shorty. (136 vs. 121) Yeah I AM THE expert! You want to argue - carry on - in the mirror.

The Apex is a nice sled XXX007 but it's not a Sidewinder and furthermore the Sidewinder is no more money than a Apex unless you're buying a noncurrent Apex of course. Rode them both and rode the pre production Sidewinder as well which was plenty impressive. The production unit is even better. If you ride a Sidewinder and then the Apex you'll quickly know the writing is on the wall for most anyway.

I knew it would be a heavy pig. That is why I got rid of my Apex. You can only go 120 mph in a very few places. The rest of the time - like 98% of its life - you have to wrestle it around. I am so glad I didn't order one.

There will always be upsides and downsides to anything to buy. That's what makes the different brands and the sport so great. It's all what each person wants and what makes them happy. Ultimately that's all the really matters:) Lots of happy Apex owners Grub. To each their own:)

The front end of the doo 850's really looks like a fish head, the the head of a Burbot!!!

You do realize the apex is much heavier...like 60lbs...I love all of you experts talking smack...that cat chassis rides and handles very well (from what I've read)....not sure how anybody here can declare the 850 superior when very few people here have ridden either one...I'm sure the 850 will be a nice machine for those who appreciate ski doos...but the sidewinder/tcat...have been a huge home run for yamaha and cat....not because soooo many have sold...but because it has created some excitement in the sport...it's a wicked fast sled, and it looks sharp...you doo guys need to quit hating on it...you know damn well that if ski doo had made a big bad turbo sled...you'd be crowing on and on about how awesome it is....no 850 can touch the hp potential of this sled (and retain reliability)...it's a silly argument....I have zero need for that kind of speed...if anything..if will probably be buying a viper or whatever 600 class sled yamaha comes out with...I'm glad I never listened to the nay sayers here and bought my apex xtx...it's been a flawless sled...runs like a watch...absolutely love it....bottom line....Ride what you like, and honestly try them all out if you can...buy the one that suits u best..it's to your money after all
