Polaris Mike said in another thread that we should have an old picture thread, I will start it and lets see some of your old pictures, these are from my first time out west in 1967 (11 years old) glacier park 67-1.jpg glacier park 67-2.jpg glacier park 67-3.jpg . They were taken in Glacier Nat'l Park before it was illegal to ride there. We still have the purple and the orange sleds.

All Vikings, cool! What year is the purple one? It looks like the same as the one my son and I got running last year!

WOW! Keep the pics coming! Whole family loves them. Kids have lots of questions like "How did you decide where to ride? Where did you stay? How fast would the machines go? weren't you worried about getting stuck?" Realized I have the same questions too! :)

speaking of old sleds, it's pretty much a done deal that there will be a vintage ride right here in Greenland the first weekend in March. If the snow does not hold up we will have a show and a dinner. BeerBellyBob and I are working on it together. Both of us will have sleds in about 2 weeks. Just finishing thew detail and will have a announcement soon!

Here's mine, bustin' through the POW here is southeastern Wi. Love to do a vintage ride sometime.

BR, I have a ton of old pictures of different sleds but I just can't seem to get around to having them converted from slide format. Last year, I posted a bunch of what I had but here's a couple that I didn't include.

Do you remember the "Slide Parties" our parents had?? At least where I lived, folks would have parties to show the slides of their trips to wherever?! Sounds like you need to break this out with the cool slides!!! VERY Retro!! :)

I hate to admit it, but we had one of these at my brothers a couple of years back. Laughed so hard I thought I was going to have an accident. I have to get a picture of him in his one piece snowmobile suit, bowling ball helmet, and CHPs mirror sunglasses.

Now why would you hate to admit this?? It's what the Jimmy Joe Sledders are all doing these days!!! :)

The purple sled is a 1967 long track, it is the first purple Viking made. My dad was president of Viking back then so we ran lots of prototype sleds Old Faithful 1970.jpg . Here is a picture at Old Faithful in 1970. We left West Yellowstone in the morning and got back after dark. It seemed like the trail had 3 foot moguls. Check out the patches on the suits.

OK, I'll play along. Here's one from Christmas Day 1968. My brother and me with our shaggy mutt on our new Panther. Dad brought our first snowmobile home on Christmas Eve that year, a 1969 Arctic Cat. It had the Leopard Print seat, Slide Rail Suspension, Cleated Track and a 19 horsepower Rockwell JLO. Top speed around 30 mph....downhill.

motoski0002.JPG motoski0003.jpg Oh yeah, good times ! Rode the 70 Moto Ski into the ground (and trees). This back before this whole "off trail" and "boondockin'" were popular words. Thats how I learned. And there were no trails. We followed 2 tracks and a lot of just riding up and down and thru the hills. Got to know miles of woods. Never got lost - just sometimes didnt always know where I was and would finally come across familiar terain. Still that way today.

WOT got me to the top / In the Woods somewhere

Here is a picture of my father in law in Traverse City in February 1959. He was almost 6' tall and the snow is over his waist.

gary in neenah - I have a 1968 in a shed if you want? All the original brochures and invoices.....

Heckler, that sounds like a keeper, any pictures? I'm sure having the original brochures and invoices would add value to the machine too. I'd love to have a vintage machine but I just don't have the room right now.

It's been a long time and I'm trying to recall the difference in the 68 to 69. I think they added a toolbox in front of the seat on the 69 and maybe the 68 had the gas tank up front near the engine.

Like others have said here, we rode those things over stumps and rocks, mile after miles before there were groomed trails. Most were worn out after two or three years of that abuse.

Gary, watch out for this heckler fellow. He's one of those, those- I have a hard time saying it. One of those BEARS fans in Wisconsin. Just kidding.

I'd love to get an old sled to putz with. I wish my mom had some old pictures of us and our sleds from the early 70's.
Right now I have bigger problems. Last Sat. I broke my truck, trailer and sleds in an accident.
