I live right in Irma (just south of Tomahawk)...right next to Hwy 51..It's only tuesday....and you would swear it's friday by the amount of trailers heading north....I realize that some maybe heading to eagle river for the races this weekend...but these were not race trailers I saw...normal sled haulers...I have a feeling it's gonna be ZOO on the trails from Mass City to Copper Harbor this weekend...have fun...enjoy the snow...I unfortunately have to work, or I would join you.

Can't imagine what friday will be like on the hwy, with this much traffic heading north on tuesday....but...I would be doing the same...go up on a tuesday come home on friday....folks are getting much smarter, on planning their rides

I sure hope we get the additional snow because right now, what we have received (it's nice don't get me wrong) is the very light LES flakes. Kind of like goose down, blows right out. We need to get a base back, right this minute IMO is a tad premature, there is some good area's & some that really are not so good. I'm still waiting to pull the trigger.-Mezz

Brotha Mezz,
Thats exactly how some of my friends up there described it!
Like you could "leaf blow" 2 feet of it off your driveway 'cuz it was so light and fluffy.
Stomp your feet,... and a 2 foot circle of clear area would appear.
Hopefully the warmer day temps will let it pack a bit.
Keep it comming!
and send some down by ME! :)

The circus is finally arriving in the KEWEE!! LOL Have fun & be kind because the place will be mobbed. :) Slow down traffic will be nutso & will be on coming sleds in corners! Can't wait to hear gas station blues in CH & other places with limited pumps. Plan ahead or will be waiting & nothing you can do but wait. Hang in there!

My wife and I rode Madison Xmas and two days after. When
We were there there were 3 or 4 trailers. The night we left, over 2 dozen!
Us snowmobiles are a passionate bunch! Everyone ride safe and support the local
Businesses.

Ok, so I agree that my neck of the woods is going to be very busy this weekend as it is one of the only places to ride in the entire Midwest. With that said, there are only X amount of beds available up here, so that is the theoretical limit to how many folks can stay and ride the area. Am I grossly underestimating the amount of persons that are either going to sleep in their vehicles or stay in areas near-by and then trailer in to ride?

MLK and Presidents Day weekends are typically booked solid up here anyway, so what am I missing?

-John

PS. Still pretty much a ghost town up here right now. Went past 5 motels today and they looked to be nearly empty or less than 20% occupied.

Just think what sunday night will be like....with the derby letting out and people coming back from the YOOP...can you say GRID LOCK??? LOL

Maybe it's a good thing I have to work...from the looks of the posts on the trail conditions sections (lots of people asking about where to stay/go in the keweenaw)...it might be better to be home this weekend.

I have ridden bumps the size of volkswagons on the bill nichols in the past...I don't recall that being fun...lol

:p

I don't know. I would imagine here. I have not personally seen things, so there is some room for error, but from the snow reports (or lack thereof), it seems like there is just enough snow to ride Twin Lakes, with the best snow from Toivola north to the tip. Not enough elsewhere in the western UP.

No riding from down this way right now...but people will stay with us and haul up to snow if they can't find lodging up there. My friend was in Baraga yesterday and said they're bare

I have seen some trailers heading north (we're on US45) but not bunches yet

From the bits and pieces I am reading, I feel that people will either be staying at their places an hour or two away, or be staying at hotels that do not currently have rideable snow yet are close enough to also trailer to the area.

From Madison to Portage, then Portage to Oxford exit. 4:30 pm to 5:15 pm, I saw one trailer. like John said, there are only so many places to stay. I have a hunch people will stay in Eagle river area 'cause of the races, then maybe trailer up for a day and ride. Busy, **** yea, the first trip to the yoop for me this year, WHO CARES!!! LOL.
