Well I completely agree with that. With so little base the increase sun exposure is more of an issue than if we have a deeper base. Makes sense. Just pisses me off we are even in this situation. So frustrating.
Perhaps the one thing in our favor dfattack, is the ground temp? It is froze, deep, and very cold. no heating from below? Not sure, just imo.

Yep, the ground is frozen deep, maybe 24” - 36”, we’ll let our construction folks answer that. Below the frost line (24” - 36”), it’s 55 degrees F. Which means it’s thawing from above and below when outdoor air temperatures are above 32 degrees F.
