JMO, I'd stay away from the 1000's. Have had 2 800's and 2 600's, never an issue, but I've towed guys with 1000's back more than once. Even had a dealer who I respect tell me if I was looking to pick up something used to grab a 600 or 800 before a 1000. I'm sure some guys have had success with the 1000's so maybe one of them can chime in.
if u want a time bomb they are great . I had a M1000 with a few mods fun as heck but I deff dumped it before 1500mi .
thing with crossfires if using as a trail sled the early spring rear skids are a better choice if more off trail than on the newer float skids are best.
but the 1000 yeah some go 5kmi but mare pop and pop hard in 1/3 that time and when they go u are more often than not buying a crank for it

its simple really....a 600 will last almost forever....they don't have enough HP to damage the bearings and create heat on parts AS MUCH as a 1000....a 700 you replace ever now and then....an 800 you replace ever other year....a 1000....is every year....this is all based on 3000 miles a year....on any model not just crossfire
not true the 700 lay down twin is good for a solid 8k before even thinking about a top end if not totally piss pounding 10k. the laydown twin 800 is also good for 7500 to 10k or more with only a top end. but it is a cat so u will replace a lot of other crap in that time

not talking aboot engine bearing....a SUZUKI NEVER FAILS.....in years and years....I am referring to the POS arctic cat stock bearings they use on the jack shafts and drive shafts....when these fail...normal people who just ride and don't work on them.....relate this to a POS machine and they sell it then or move to another manu....not realizing that's the only flaw in a cat....if a machine breaks the normal customer just says ITS DONE FOR......and my 700 has 22,000 miles on it....you don't need to rebuild them....but since mine has 157HP it has melted the frame where the clutch rides....and the heat as I speak of has destroyed stuff....but my 600 with like 120HP hasn't melted nuthin....I used to replace bearings like underwear until I got wise to the HP thing and the NTN thing....you KNOW which bearings I was speaking of since your a cat guy.....why did you try the engine thing on me?

I like the Crossfire. I have went through 4 of them with the 800 engine and the coupled 136" skid. I also ran one of the 141" skids. The early years had some issues before the ECU reflash, but later versions were solid. Nice thing about those sleds. They have the power and speed along with easy pull starting.
I had a 2007 1000 Crossfire loved it. 6500 miles when I sold it to my uncle a few years ago and he's still riding it. If you are cruising, that big motor just hums along at 55-60 with no effort. Was good on oil and gas. I really liked it. I serviced it religiously, diamond drive every year, took it to dealer. Zero issues.

so there it is HOOSIER.....many accolades.....solid performer.....so are you looking in Lafayette or indy area? I know a lot of guys and have bought several sleds from there....you want I ask my buds if they know of a 2011 with aboot 1500 miles for cheap....or where ya looking...Cincinnati nuther good city to look for hardly used sleds
Sure, if you come across anything, let me know. I've just been looking on craiglist so far...I agree the prices are better outside the snow belt.
If I don't do anything, I'll be riding the old 06 Fusion 600 again. It's got about 9,500 on it. I think it's got a lot of life left in it because of the work I've done to it but I'm not sure the guys I ride with agree...
