I use dryer sheets at cabin and in stored cars....never seen any issues with mice that way....might be good luck or might be the dryer sheets not sure yet.....

I have used snuggle sheets while storing cars, sleds, motorcycles etc and it has always kept the mice out. I can't tell you why but it works.

Doing the right thing

Peppermill: You seem like responsible business owners and are doing the right thing by reimbursing the pet owners for their vet bills and lodging expenses. It's stand up people like you that make us come back as repeat customers.

Keep some Peroxide on hand. Our pet injested D-con and wife's uncle who's a vet recommended pouring peroxide down until it induces vomitting. The dog was fine afterwards and no vet bill.

To all pet owners, please be careful when using Hydrogen Peroxide as an emetic agent. You simply cannot just pour peroxide down their throat until they vomit. There is dosage limits according to your animals weight. Usually only a few mLs is used once and if that does not produce vomitting within 15 minutes then a second dose can be administered and if after a second 15 minute period has passed then you need to seek a vets medical assistance. Also another concern to think of is the substance that has been ingested. If the substance that has been ingested is corrosive and harmful to the stomach, esophagus etc... please do not induce vomitting. This will cause more harm then help. Also if peroxide is used to induce vomitting please still consult a veterinarian for a follow up. Even though the substance might have been rid of by emetics there still can be damage to kidneys and the liver.

I'm not trying to bash your post but I just want pet owners out there to be aware.

Mouse baits.....??

I can't believe you use rat baits for a rental? Really?? I'd use a trap if nothing more than the mouse dragging the baits back under the cabin and dieing with a staunch! We had a dead mouse in our motorhome a few yrs.ago. I had to take the floor up to find the DT.It wasn't pretty!

As long as we are on the topic of methods to deal with mice. I learned from the pros that you do not want to use a method that involves bait like the snap traps and poison. They actually just attract the mice from all over and even though you may kill the one that ventures into the trap or eats the bait, more will follow, as they follow scents left by those that came before them.

The best devices to use are the ones that just trap the animal and use no attractant. I have seen small one animal traps in hardware stores and even Walmart and have seen the multi animal traps in farm and garden supply catalogs.

Good luck trying to stop these buggers. They can fit through holes with a diameter as small as a dime. Spray foam is your best bet to seal them off from getting inside.

After 4 years of dealing with them, I think I finally sealed them off this autumn. Next time I will listen to my wife when we are building and she says: "We should seal that up, a mouse can get through there."!

This is funny! For me it seems that for every year i have been married, i find myself saying "Next time i will listen to my wife" more often!

I aways say the only thing i have taught my wife so far wife is patience!
