Wow!

That's it. I've seen enough! I'm ordering a tether before I get on my sled next year. Not sure why I haven't done it already. Just pure laziness I guess.

For some reason I've seen more of these types of accidents than ever this year. I'm gona take it as a sign to quit being stupid and lazy!

Put one on my snowmobile this year to avoid something like this or the snowmobile going for a ghost ride

Man, I wish I hadn't even watched that. The video is bad enough but the audio is horrible. I hope dude's alright.

These sleds are heavy and jumping them can get you hurt. I wear a rooster and I don't jump but I would think that anyone who does take these chances, would take every single precaution there is before doing it. That guy got hurt and he was lucky he didn't get hurt even more. A sled upside down can be a fire bomb.

I view this video as something to remind everyone of what NOT to do.

What's a rooster?

I think the discussion has been done here a couple times before, but it would be worth it again if there was some discussion about which type of tek vest to buy and why. I was going to buy one for this season, but never got around to it. I am hoping to go a show this year and try on a few first for fit. And no, I don't do anything like on that video.

Ouch is right!. Not a big jumper myself. although I've been known to jump when someone yells "free beer". I started wearing a vest last season and now it feels funny if I'm not wearing it.

Wonder where his tether/DESS key was connected to?
It should have shut the engine down if it the cord was connected to the rider.

Same type of thing happened to a Ski-Doo riding buddy earlier this year....sled went on a ride without him.....I asked "Where was your tether?".......His response "Clipped to the bars"..........Yeah! THAT makes sense........

I don't think you can watch/listen to that video without it making a point. I like to jump, heck I like to show off for my boys in the yard. Now I will not be showing off for them and will seriously be thinking Tek vest, even for them cruising around the yard on their little 4-wheeler.

Just imagine if his track had been studded. Might not have been anything left of him.

He is lucky to be alive. Our Tog guide Lefty told me a story of how he knew of someone loosing their arm to a spinning track.

I had a seriously close call once with my foot. It was back in the days of my 03 RX-1ton, We were riding logging roads and there was a serious washout that we needed to get over to a section we never explored before. I hammered it down,up and over and got shot into the side of the hill going up. My machine was all out of shape but I stayed on the gas to try an get through. During all this I put my leg out looking for stability and it go sucked under my sled. Sled has 196 picks. My boot was shredded on top and I mean shredded. It ripped my sock off the top of my foot completely and I did not get even a scratch on my skin. When I pulled by leg back out and saw my boot I was shocked and believed my foot was a mess but to my surprise it was fine. We had duct tape and fixed it all up, used the boot for the rest of the weekend even. Not sure about why I posted this but it was a close call and I guess not much to prevent but to keep arms and legs inside of machine at all times!

that guy needs to get a clue on how to take a jump. you need to go at it at more than 4 mph.
where is the picture someone posted earlier this year of getting their foot caught under their track. the foot was raw beef.

I had the same thought. (just didn't want to say it, lol) If you don't know how to jump a 500# snowmobile, dropping off a ten foot boulder on the side of a mountain is probably not the best place to practice.

The more important point though, is the injuries sustained by that mistake were totally avoidable. Had he been wearing his tether and had a tek vest on, the only thing injured would have been his pride!
